4g signal

Hello

I got my iphone 6 four weeks back. I am having problem since activating the phone. There is always a very poor 4G signal. The speed is ridiculously awful somewhere in 200 kbps, equals to 2G. Several phone calls and complaints, Verizon finally is telling me that I am in a marginal coverage area and signal quality will be weak and cannot be guaranteed indoor use. I already replaced iphone 6 and 4g sim card. Nothing helped. Has anybody have this type of problem??

Help is right here, front and center! Let's look into your 4G signal NoWayToGo! Let's start with what zip code are you having issues in? Can I assume that there isn't any liquid/physical damage on your iPhone 6? Were you having this issue with your previous phone? As you share the details then we can investigate.

Zip code is 60440. No liquid/water spillage on iphone 6. I am new customer of Verizon and bought iPhone 6 from Verizon. Don't have previous service with Verizon. I was having prepaid service before.

Thanks for the details, NoWayToGo. I can see the coverage for your area. There is 4G LTE available in many parts of that zip code, but you will see variations in strength as you travel through the area. Have you found that to be the case? For example, while at home, there are specific locations in and around home where service may be stronger than others? Have you tried service outside of that area since joining us? Do you have more than one line of service? If so, are other lines experiencing the same?

I only have 1 line with Verizon. I just started with Verizon with my iphone 6. I have never been with Verizon before. I activated my device on 10/22/2014 Immediately after activating, there is a data speed issue. All the speed is 100 to 400 kbps. I troubleshoot more than 1 time according to Verizon technical person. I also got replaced my iphone 6 by Apple and also got new 4G sim card but everything is same. Talked with customer service, technical associate several times but of no use.

Regarding the signal, this is not just the problem inside the building, even going in any direction in an open area (space) up to 800 yards approx, the signal strength is poor with extremely awful data speed (100-400 kbps). I filed 2 complaints and both the time I got reply that "The coverage where I am working is marginal and no guarantee for indoor signal." I again called cust. service and asked what is the definition of marginal signal. How much speed should one get if that area has got marginal coverage. Not able to reply, likely very tough question.

I am planning to write to the corporate office regarding this issue. I am paying full price for 4g LTE service and how can you guys show on your coverage map that my area has "excellent" coverage. This is cheating on your part. In interest general public, I like to bring forward this malpractice by Verizon and misleading information on your website about coverage map/area and also misleading information from Verizon sales person and saying that nobody in future at least enroll for Verizon service particularly in my area. You can also find lot other complaints on several websites regarding this area of low signal, dropped calls, LTE speed issues.

Regarding your question, whether there is problem apart from this particular location, I get decent data speed but not up to Verizon standards. That's most disappointing.

Slow speed doesn't mean you don't have 4G. LTE is capable of FASTER speeds doesn't mean your speed WILL be faster. Has to do with how many people are also using the same tower and how much data they are consuming.

I totally agree and understand. But what do you mean by slow speed.... is it 100-200 kbps all the time, its 2G or even lower speed???? It has been a month I am on Verizon and all the time I did speed test and this was what I got.

A tower sector that has been upgrade to XLTE can do a max of 150 Mbps. A tower sector can handle up to 400 connections. If several dozen are all watching HD video then of course speeds will be slower.

still my question remains there. In such scenario, what should be the minimum speed? Do 400+ people are connected to that tower all day and night? I am not getting anything above 400 kpbs and that I used 2GB of my data for a month just checking the speed all the time.
