Data Usage Spike of nearly 7GB in 8 minutes

Has anyone had this happen, I had a 6.7gb spike in 8mins, what? I spoke with Verizon Customer Service, they said that it is possible, is it? Can some one explain how the network could even handle that much data in that amount of time. They won't admit that they're system could even make a mistake. What is the data limit for a iPhone 4s on the network in L.A. per minute? Anyone?

Have you checked under the Cellular settings to find out what used the data?

I have received 3 text alerts about my data this morning! First one was at 7:36am, second was at 7:38am, & third was at 7:39am. Something is really wrong, because I use WiFi at home and at work...and I do not use my phone at all while I drive to work...so how in the world could I have used that much data in 3 minutes?! I did try the "live chat" online but "all of the agents are busy" is the continuous message that I receive.

No way to use that much on an IPhone 4s as it's a 3G device. On a 4G device you can but I find that unlikely.

I called Verizon. I was told that it could be Yahoo Mail using the bulk of my data (perhaps they made some upgrades). I will see what happens now that I have turned off the Yahoo Mail notifications.

Some of these mail apps and cloud apps keep sending data over and over. wouldn't shock me if a Yahoo app was messed up.

That is 111 Mbps, which is impossible over CDMA 3G EVDO on a 4S.

How exactly did you figure you had that much data in 8 minutes. Remember, Verizon reports data use in periods with the start of the period on the details. It does not tell you the end of the transmission period.

So for an example, I'll use MB since that is easier to explain in whole number for this. If you details look like:

1:10 PM 2 MB

1:18 PM 6860 MB

4:30 PM 24 MB

The above does not mean 6860 MB (6.7 GB) was transmitted in 8 minutes. It means starting at 1:18, 6860 MB was transmitted in a data session that lasted for unknown period, but ending before 4:30 PM, when another data session started.
