Is it possible to switch phone numbers between plans?

My son has unlimited data plan and I have a 2 gb data plan. I would like to know if it is possible switch my phone number with his. I want to keep my number and phone but take over his unlimited data plan and he take over the 2 gb data plan, keep his phone and number.

No you can't switch contracts and features between lines of service within your account. If you want to use the unlimited data plan, you have to take over using your son's line and he has to use your phone number.

Then your line would lose unlimited because transferring numbers cancels the plan.

My son will soon be getting his own account with the $60 plan with 2 gb data. He want to take(port) his phone number. That leaves me with a unlimited data and 2 gb plan which are not under contract. I want to cancel the 2 gb plan and keep the unlimited plan with my phone number Or just request a new number. There should be a way to do this or am I missing something .

If the line with unlimited data number gets ported out it will AUTOMATICALLY cancel the line therefore losing unlimited data.

The best bet is to just change the number and he has to get a new number in order to keep unlimited.

Well... There is one way, but it's risky and you could lose unlimited data anyway... Also it would take at least a month to port your number.
