Question on upgrade

My company was upgrading their email servers to KNOX, my current phone doesn't support it. I'm not due for upgrade so I purchased a second device on my account, a Note3. I just found out Note 3 version of KNOX is not supported. My question can I upgrade my Note 3, to a Note 4, which is supported by my company,and pay ETF minus price of trade in.

Great question. No the ETF is billed to the account. You wouldn't be able to trade that phone in until the line is disconnected. You can follow the trade in process here: http://vz.to/1vE1lNn. Currently, looks like the trade in value for the Note 3 is roughly $175.00. You won't be able to get the Note 4 with a two year agreement unless you add a new line to your account, or you have one that is upgrade eligible. Thanks.

Hi acs1784. Oh no! Sorry to hear that your Note 3 is not going to support your company's new email provider. You certainly are able to purchase the Note 4, but since you are not upgrade eligible you would have to pay full retail for the phone. You are able to cancel the line, but the ETF will be billed. If you do trade in your phone, you can put that towards the cost of the new phone. I hope that this helps answer your question.

Thanks for quick reply. Can I go to Verizon store, pay ETF, trade in my Note3, and put that money towards purchase of Note 4 with 2 year agreement.

Cancelling and paying the ETF is one thing; trading in your Note 3 is another. I would sell the Note 3 (you'll likely get more than you would on a trade in). You can't cancel, pay an ETF, and then turn around an re-open the account - you have to wait 60 days, or the old contract terms are reinstated, and you still would not be eligible to upgrade.

Your best option would be to purchase the Note 4, then sell the Note 3 for as much as you can to recoup the cost.

Your contract would not change.... you'll have to pay full price for the Note 4, as you are still in contract for the Note 3 and the only way to end that would be to cancel and pay the ETF. As explained above, that won't work; so just swap phones on the line. Contract stays the same, you get the Note 4 (full price), and sell the Note 3 for max to make up the cost.
