Why doesn't Verizon have $45 a mo. unlimited

I talked to a customer service rep and asked why verizon does not have a monthly plan of $45 a month unlimited talk, text and data. His response to me was that they tried it and were taken to court because other companies said verizon would monopolize the wireless business and that wasn't fair. Are you serious with this? they already monopolize the wireless industry. I think the real reason is they enjoy charging extra for data.....it's called greed!!

I just don't understand why and how a company can be so money hungry, it's time to stop thinking about the money and time to start actually thinking about your customers.

Actually it is because unlimited data causes network overloads and slows the networks down immensely.

Unless you have a crappy network, then offer unlimited.

There is a reason unlimited all-you-can-eat buffets contain so-so food.

I actually had straight talk and I had the IPhone 5 and it used verizon towers so my service was great!! Not sure why I switched!

I never had that problem with straight talk, always had service and it was never slow. Not really sure why I switched.

I guess this is one of those situations were you live and learn!!

Please share your money-hungry greed theory with my gas and electric companies, the gas stations, and the tax man. Much as I hate greed at the expense of customers, I also understand free enterprise. They have a product, we want to use it. They paid to create it... if you had developed a product, wouldn't you expect to profit from it? or would you give it away because you're such a nice person?

I agree that they should offer some sort of unlimited plan like they did in the past. And as far as making a profit, believe me they are making a buttload of profit. For example, apple charges $650 for an iPhone6. Over $400 of that is pure profit.

So in theory, Verizon could offer an unlimited plan and still benefit from it. Anyone can tell that Apple's overhead and cost of materials does not equal out to anywhere close to $400 per iPhone.

Also, it makes complete sense for them to offer an unlimited plan because every other provider offers one. Why not offer one to squash the competition. We all know that's what the name of the game is, out sell the competitors. If AT&T offers "Plan A" at $80/month, Verizon should strive to offer the same benefits of "Plan A" at a cheaper rate.

I have explained how the pricing comes to what they price. One Plus One is prime example as why price affects availability. It also affects customer service. There's more to it than the cost of the parts. Don't forget what happens to Apple is they don't sell 1/2 of what they produce. It isn't that simple.

Straight talk throttles you Verizon can't throttle you based on Block C rules. They are not playing by the same rules. I will put money down on all things being equal no carrier will offer unlimited data. Sprint went on record they said if they get enough customers they'd have to drop it. Right now their network isn't saturated and can offer it. They keep losing customers so that's why they still do.

You are describing spiral to the bottom, which is a sign of desperation. Verizon can play the quality card and can keep profits higher. The name of the game is profits, not selling more at a lower cost.

I can say that the T-Mobile Test drive I took was horrible. I never got better than 2G service inside, or outside my house. I was told that we were right on the edge of a LTE area. If I lived 5 hours over,i would be fine.

On ANY MVNO(straight talk is one) if you use somewhere between 2 to 5GB(depends on which MVNO) they will slow down you speeds to slower than dialup. Block C rules stops Verizon from doing so. When Verizon purchased the Block C 700 spectrum there were criteria for them to follow. One of them is no throttling(main reason I believe Verizon no longer offers unlimited and trying to get people off it). All other carriers that offer "unlimited" have clauses for network optimization that can throttle in the event of network congestion.

MVNO due to a law are able to get services at pennies to the dollar and resell them. They don't need to repair any networks, and they do not need as many CSRs. If something goes wrong and you think Verizon is terrible in terms of CS then you haven't gotten the worse from MVNO's.

So they are not playing by the same rules as Verizon has extra set of rules they have to follow which is not even playing field. If other carriers had to follow Block C you see a drastic change. No carrier will offer unlimited any more, and MVNO's wouldn't either.

I was never charged anymore than $45 a month and had great coverage and total free use of data.
