How to report businesses that are jamming phone signals.

Hi,

I strongly suspect a business I frequent of jamming mobile phone signals. I've never been able to have any sort of conversation there, and even text messages often fail to send. It's not related to my phone, because I had the same problem with my last phone on another carrier, and with my wife's phone (also on Verizon).

My phone thinks it's getting a good signal (3 or 4 bars), but can't even check my voicemail. The problems persist — but diminish as I exit the building — until I get about 10 feet from the front of the location. The reason I doubt it's just that the building is made of lead or something is because I can receive things like wi-fi signals (from Comcast, etc.) while inside. I know we're talking about different frequencies, but I assume most building materials that block RF do so somewhat indiscriminately.

Anyway, I wonder if Verizon can come and check it out. If they're not blocking it, I might have to try a new carrier...

cyber_nicco, I know how important it is to be able to rely on your service. Does the issue occur in different locations? You mentioned service restoring after you exit a building. Since our cell towers are located outdoors, there are many variables that can affect signal penetration like foliage and building material. This would be different from WiFi since WiFi utilizes a router that allows the signal to be accessible over the air in a buliding. Thank you for the quick reply. However, I think you misunderstood about the WiFi. The Comcast WiFi I am referring to is an outdoor public hotspot - not inside the building at all. Plus, I get strong signals from many off-premise WiFi hotspots. I know this is not a full-proof test, but it does at least show that some RFs are penetrating the building with absolute ease. Also, (though I know this is imperfect as well) my phone reports that the signal is strong. Yet, as I say, I cannot even have a poor quality phone conversation. Furthermore, it seems to affect many people, evidenced by how many people go outside to make or receive calls.

To answer your question, it only happens in this one location. I didn't actually say it happens when I exit a building, I said it happens when I exit the building.

Again, thank you for your help, but going back to the original question, how does one report a business that is actively jamming mobile phone frequencies?
