I keep getting this alert when sending a text in Singapore to a Singapore mobile number "

I was roaming in Singapore and sent SMS to Singaporean mobile numbers that I have send SMS from the US no problems and kept getting this message: "<SG phone number> is a landline #. Reply Y to send all TXT messages to this # as voice messages for 0.25/msg. + std msg fee. Details @ vtext.com, TexttoLandline"

That definitely is an odd situation, especially when it works just fine in the U.S.A. Is the number in question a landline? Is your phone experiencing this issue with any other number in Singapore?

All numbers are mobile, numbers I've SMSed for years with no problems from both the US, Singapore and other countries, e.g. HK, Malaysia, China. Problems started in Dec '13 (but I was on vacation in Singapore, so did not bother following up). Last trip was work, and could not communicate with people using SMS.
