I want to be able to be alerted when a certain client of me sends me an email. I need to know right away, so I need my phone to send me some kind of audible notification when I receive an email from this person. Is there a way to do this?
First you don't tell anyone what the make of phone is.
So read your owners manual. You can assign sounds (under your sounds menu) to contacts for email alerts. Most have a list of sounds or you can make your own sounds from your own music on the device.

You don't say what email system you are using. What I would do, is set up a rule in Exchange that looks for when an email comes in from a certain person and then that would trigger a text message to my phone by email via myphonenumber@vtext.com. That way I will get an text message alert when an email comes in from this person.
It really depends what email systems you are using and how you have things set up.
