How has Verizon proven to value money over customer service for you?

Did you know that Verizon randomly "selected" plans to receive 8gb of data for $70. Well, my girlfriend got one of these wonderful texts and upgraded her line for free. 4gb to 8gb for the same rate. That's awesome. Currently, as a member who started five years ago, we have the 8gb for $90. You may see where I am going with this. I called customer service asking for the same promotion. They said it was 'special' and randomly chosen, but they would fill out paperwork manually so that we could get the pricing since we have been loyal customers.

I just signed in to check before paying the bill this cycle and noticed the change had not happened. I called customer service again and was told the request was denied. I was told that they could do nothing for me. This has proven that Verizon only cares about the money. A new contract can get upgraded to an extra 4gb since their already paying the same, but since we pay higher there is "nothing they can do". Luckily, all 5 of our lines for Verizon are up and have been paying a month to month. With the specials being run for signing up with competitors, I am happy to look for a different company. I understand I will probably get the same type of service, but enough is enough from Verizon.

First of all, I will assume you are on a More Everything plan. Second, you should certainly check Verizon's site, then and upgrade your data allowance to the 10 GB level. Currently Verizon has 10 GB of data for $80/month, $10 cheaper than what you are paying for 2 GB MORE than your current allowance.:smileyhappy:

And, also, they would move up to the $25 Month-to-month discount per line vice the $15 discount.

Thanks guys for the advice. Even to that extent, I only have one line with a M2M discount and thats only at $10. So it should have been $15 at the 8gb? That just bothers me a little more. Also, my main gripe was that they were calling it a loyalty promotion. Why should I be upgrading to a higher tier of Data when I don't need it to save $10, when I could save $20 for the data I already have?

You ONLY get that $15 discount if you are out of contract or you made your current phone purchase with the Edge program. If you are currently a 2yr service contract, you do not qualify for that $15 discount at 8 GB.

I am understanding that as basically if I am Month 2 Month (eligible to upgrade) I should be receiving a $15 per line that is eligible. Please let me know if that is correct. Currently 1 of the 3 lines that are M2M are receving a credit and that is only $10.

Yes, if you are month to month, you are eligible for the $15 discount. It does not add automatically, though, you have to do it manually. The discount used to be $10/month and was recently increased to $15/month. I am unsure if people who were receiving this $10/month discount were automatically updated to the $15/month discount. You may have to take the $10/month discount off and then add the $15/month discount if you are currently receiving the $10/month M2M discount. Of course, this is only for More Everything plans.

Regardless, if you currently have an 8 GB data allowance, you should increase it to a 10 GB allowance for $10 less then you are currently paying for 8 GB. The discount would also increase from $15/month to $25/month.:smileyhappy:

when verizon changed the discount from 10-15 for plans under 10 gb it was not a automatic swap customers needed to call/go online to enroll in the new discount amount or a equipment swap or plan change would change the discount.

Also i cant help but notice how similar your compalint is to the workers in the parable in matthew 20

land owner went out got some workers for a set price they agreed to.
later in the day the land owner got more workers .....
At the end of the day the workers who had worked the hole day got their pay but were upset becasue others who worked less got the same.

Is it really worth getting upset because your getting what you agreed to and someone else got a special offer

Logic, I understand that I am not entitled to anything. Signing a contract and everything I am okay with. My issue stems from the use of a "loyalty" discount from Verizon. Why suggest that something is a special due to loyalty when an account is less than a year old but a 5 year account is not eligible?

Because they marketed it one way to the person with the "less than a year old" account. Verizon sometimes does this when trying to dissuade someone from switching carriers. This does not mean that ALL customers will get the same offer.

Additionally, Verizon is continually trying new pricing structures out on people. This is how they "test" those pricing structures. This does not mean ALL customers will get in on the test pricing. Verizon may even "market" these test prices as "loyalty", I certainly don't know. Sometimes they "randomly" select customers for the new pricing, sometimes they blanket an entire geographical area. This does not mean that the pricing will ramp up to a wider scale in the future, but sometimes it does. This also does not mean that if you call in to request the pricing, you will get it.

Last month, Verizon had different pricing on some data tiers than it has this month. Even if you call in to request the pricing from last month, you will not be able to get it. You can go with the current available pricing(which includes the 10 GB at $10/month LESS than what you are currently paying for 8 GB), or stay with what you have. This pricing MAY NOT be available next month. If so, you would not be able to call in and get it if you ask. It is even possible the pricing your GF currently has will be available to everyone next month. It also may not be available. This is called test marketing. It may even be marketed to the select few as "loyalty" pricing, since they are testing this pricing aimed at keeping their customers "loyal".:smileyhappy:
