Just for the record.
"The holdup is always the carrier. We'll only know a release date on the date they allow Cyan.

We are the only carrier in the US without the update! Shame on you verizon!
Our "new phone savings jar" is filling up fast. Can't wait to get all 3 of us o the family plan out of the Verizon ecosystem.
Probably need to start my own jar.
I have decided that if we don't get the update by February 1st I'm going with AT&T. I really love my Lumia 928 but this is ridiculous. Verizon better get on the ball or they stand to loose alot of WP customers.
Agreed already looking for deals.
We don't want to see you leave our family pa2k4p. We do our best to provide updates as soon as we receive them from the manufacture but we also want to make sure they will work the best. Are you having any issues with your phone we can address?Kinquana_VZWFollow us on Twitter @vzwsupport
Thank you, Kinquana_VZW, for your response. I truly do believe that Verizon does care about ensuring quality updates to our Lumia devices.
Will Verizon eventually push the Cyan update to our Nokia Lumia phones when the updates are completed?
I own the Nokia 822, 928, and 929 (Icon) phones and would like to know that it is at least coming sometime in 2014, 2015, or 2016.
Thank you in advance and have a nice day.
Remember
They are withholding the update because it doesn't work with their proprietary apps! This has nothing to do with Microsoft.

It's good to see that they at least don't want onepa2k4p you must have a bigger account then me because I have been trying for weeks to get a response and nothing. Congratulations!

Find any proof of that "app" statement. It was recalled back to Microsoft. Under quality conditions. At no time was any statement from Microsoft or Verizon stating it was Verizon's App's.
Could have been a bad or faulty build by Microsoft.
It does not help to spread false information.
Wait patiently it may come.

Due to VZW incompetence in testing this release back in 07/15/2014 (Windows Phone 8.1 | Verizon Wireless) I have the following issues:
In not testing the release back on 7/15/2014 you've created a delay in released functionality that can be used now during the holiday season and beyond. This is unprofessional at best and you should be ashamed of yourselves. It is unprofessional for a company of your size.
You apparently have no problem testing and approving Apple's iOS on time. Could you imaging if you delayed iOS 8 for this long.... All customers and devices should be treated equally....
Verizon is going to loose the 3 phones on my account as well as my mothers phone and the 2 on my sisters account. Why hasn't the windows update been pushed out yet. They are the last carrier to release it. How come when Apple pushes an update they let it go right on through? Is it because Verizon doesn't have any of their lame apps on the iPhone. The contracts come due in May and we are finished. The other carriers offer the same service in the areas we need coverage, Verizon doesn't care about its Windows customers so if they don't care about me I will go to a carrier that supports the Windows OS properly!! Good Riddance Verizon!!!
I have looked at all of the responses on this thread. As a family that owns 3 Windows Phones on Verizon (2 928's and 1 Icon), all I ask for is this:
1. Is Verizon going to update all of my Windows Phones to Cyan? Yes or No
2. Is Verizon going to allow the Denim update on same phones? Yes or No
3. Just level with us why it's taking so long to do this and stop playing games. If you don't have an actual date to give us then don't. Just answer questions 1 and 2, PLEASE!
If I was involved in this issue and worked for Verizon, I would be EXTREMELY EMBARRASSED right now how UNPROFESSIONAL they have handled this issue. Just give us facts, not guesses!
I certainly won't be switching phone OS, but this is an interesting read: Why have I given up on Windows Phone? Blame Verizon | ZDNet
Verizon deserves the blame in full here.
I bought my ICON the day it was released by Verizon. Prior to doing that I had called the Verizon number on their website and was told the ICON was their flagship windows phone and would be sold with Windows 8, but would get Windows Phone 8.1 as soon as Microsoft released it. As everyone knows that was on July 15 of this year. What I was told on the phone by Verizon was repeated to me at two different stores and I finally bought it based on that information and also deciding to stay with Verizon. I have been with them all the way back to the days of Alltel.
I still don't have it from Verizon and now depending on who I talk to they either say they can't guarantee me I'll ever get it or maybe by February.
I have owned Apple, my wife owns a Galaxy 5 running Android. I'm still convinced Windows Phone 8.1 for what I do is the best system out there. If only Verizon would have told me that Windows 8.1 was not going to be a priority for them I could have happily gone somewhere else.
I called them twice on Tuesday. The first lady was nice and promised to call me back with more information. Never heard from her.
So I called back and got a young man who was nice enough until I told him I wanted a timeframe I could depend on or I wanted some kind of opportunity to exchange what I bought from Verizon to something that would actually allow me to have 8.1 now. He politely said he couldn't do either. So I asked to speak to a supervisor. He told me three times that they were all busy so finally I asked him if he could have a supervisor call me back. He said that was not possible.
So I became a bit more enraged and engaged and suddenly a supervisor was available to talk.
She was nice and I apologized up front to her for any anger I may be emitting for I realize she did nothing to cause my frustration, but I have waited patiently since July 15th. She listened very politely and told me that she could see activity in their note system about this being released for the ICON, but no dates. I asked her two questions.
How long, in her opinion, would be reasonable for me to wait on the upgrade before I made the call again. She said, Feb. 1. I will be patient on that.
I then asked if there was any way I could trade phones at some discount with Verizon so I could get 8.1 now. She said she didn't have that authority, but technical may and she would transfer me there if I wished. I thanked her and told her I was appreciative of her time. She took my number again just to make sure if I got cut off while being transferred to technical that they could call me back.
That was Tuesday. I got a text from Verizon asking me to do a survey on how my service call was handled, but never have I heard from the first lady or from technical in the second case.
Either the employees of Verizon really don't know what is going on, or Verizon has no real concerns about customers as long as their bill is paid.
At the first opportunity to leave Verizon I am, but I have multiple phones and devices under contract with them and realistically can't move for a year. But that gives me a year to warn everyone I meet about how Verizon treats existing phone owners.
I am very disappointed with Verizon and at some point will express it to my state's attorney general.
The article is just a basically spot on. At this point VZW should just stop selling Window Phone devices and dedicate their time to Andriod and Apple....
Though there is a small (and I mean very small) hope that they are working on Denim also and will release both.
this is the first time EVER, I have not renewed my contract and purchased a new phone as soon as I could do so at the 2 year contract price. I do not see any premium Windows Phones I am interested in NOR am I impressed with verizons support. If the situation does not improve very soon my 4 lines are going elsewhere.

Amen. No point in committing yourself to subsidize everyone else's equipment if your company doesn't want to support the equipment you were subsidized for. The only reason I stuck with VZW was so i could get shiny new subsidized device every couple years. If I bring my own equipment, do I get a discount? Nope.
You DO get a discount if you bring your own equipment. It's either $15 if you have 8GB or less data plan or $25 for 10GB or more per line not on a contract on the More Everything plan.

This is where the behavior of Verizon is so egregious. You can bring your own phone / tablet and even though Verizon is required to be open to *all devices* they still refuse to allow people to connect. A device can be designed for Verizon frequencies, pass FCC violations and they will still refuse to allow it on their network despite being required to as part of the spectrum acquisition. If anyone wants to see just how awful Verizon is in that regard, take a look at the posts about Verizon on buzzmachine.com.
I don't know if I'm happy to hear this or more pissed that the support person AT A CORPORATE STORE that helped my setup a new SIM for my self purchased 822 didn't ever tell me this.. over a year ago. I need to find the details. Seems like someone might be owing me some cash. Thanks for the tip.
