Upgrading from iPhone 4 to iPhone 5c

I just ordered upgrades to iPhone 5c from iPhone 4 for both phones on my account.  When I upgraded the first phone, I used the wrong device so it is now loaded with the other phone number's information.  The first phone number is now working on its correct device.  Before I upgrade the second phone number, do I have to clear the device or will my iCloud backup overwrite all the other data?
