Verizon carrier update 18.1 for iphone 6

Recieved a carrier update message pop up, clicked yes to update,and now my phone is acting strange - bad reception, slow response time, etc this was the first carrier update i recieved via pop up since owning an iphone for 3+ years. Could this be a virus?

Oh wow! This certainly is not something that should be happening. That update was something that did come out to be processed. It was not a virus. You just noticed all of this after this particular update? What software version do you have on the phone? Please let me know. Thanks.

8.1.3 is the software update i have. Yes, this just started happening after the carrier update.

Have you tried resetting your phone or restarting it? You may even need to do a restore. I haven't had any issues with the carrier update on my iPhone 6+ or on the iPhone 6 in my household so I'm not sure if this is a widespread issue.

It's possible that 8.1.3 is the problem and not the carrier update. I haven't updated to 8.1.3. I always wait several weeks minimum to install an iPhone update or don't do it at all if I'm not having any issues with the version I'm currently using. Just to be sure that the new updates don't bring unwanted bugs and cause issues than I might not have had to begin with

Let's get your phone running back to normal. Updates are intended to help the phones functionality. I want you to perform a network reset to your phone. You can do this in Settings>General>Reset Network Settings. This should resolve the issue with the lag on your phone. Keep us updated on phones performance after reset.

I have the same issues but I have an iPhone 5 - I went ahead and reset the network settings, and now it won't connect to Wi-fi

I'm having the same problem with my iPhone 6, since I updated to carrier update18.1 people now claim that my phone is breaking up and I'm only getting 1-2 bars always! I have already tried the reset network settings and that did not correct the issue! Any other help would be awesome I use my phone a lot in the house and now I can because people can't hear me due to the poor signal!

jb804 oh no! Let's get your iPhone 6 concerns resolved ASAP! I understand this all began after the carrier update. Resetting the network settings is a a great step! The next step will be to ensure your phone is backed up to iCloud, iTunes, or Verizon Cloud, and then do a factory reset. Once backed up, please go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Content & Settings. Please try this and test out the phone for a bit. Please keep us posted! Thanks!

That was actual my next step I will reset all tonight and give that a try, I will keep you posted.

I have a 5s did the 8.1.3 operating system update. Screen pop for carrier upgrade to 18.1 I clicked yes. now the phone says it is in extended at the signal bar where it use to say verizon. How do i fix? did a network reset and the phone will not allow me to do a factory reset.

update . i was able to do a factory reset and it still says extended

My phone came with the 18.1 carrier update so I can't even factory reset it to get rid of it and I too am having nothing but problems with my service and signal. I have to constantly turn my airplane mode on and off to reset my signal to access data and texting/iMessage... this includes having to reset my wifi signals. I'm very upset about this and really wishing at this point that I wouldn't have left AT&T last month because I rarely had signal issues with that carrier.

Well a factory reset wouldn't change the update version on your device. I'm curious if there is an issue with your area and the update. I'm not having any issues with the update (west central Georgia) nor was I having any issues before the update. In general, my service is always consistent in my area and the surrounding cities and states I frequent. I'm not sure if a restore would be beneficial but it wouldn't hurt to try it. Especially if you've tried resetting and restarting. If the problem really is tied to the network update then chances are that Apple won't be able to offer much help, but contacting them (or visiting an Apple Store if you live near one) to see what they say wouldn't hurt either.

I did the factory reset about a week or two after buying it when the issue first arose thinking it was due to restoring from a previous back-up. That didn't help.

Plus, signal issues in my area wouldn't explain the issues with connectivity to wifi hotspots either.

We appreciate you going as far as to try a reset on your phone, mhelman. We don't want to see you have continued trouble and regretting your switch to Verizon! Can you tell me more about what you mean when you have to reset your WiFi signals? Are you having trouble with phone calls as well or is it just data and text/iMessages? Do you see any particular error message?
