My contract is up in a week & a potential carrier said my phone will work on their GSM beta but it would need to be unlocked.
The Verizon iPhone 5S is sold unlocked. There is nothing you need to do but insert the new SIM card.

I had read that but wanted to get confirmation since the (potential) new carrier said it would need to be unlocked (one would think they should know a 5s is already unlocked for use on GSM networks!) So much conflicting data!
