I'm try to send a text message from my old Droid X to my new Moto M (2nd gen) over wi-fi.

I installed a security software on the old phone, It is supposed to send a text message to the new phone when it detects movement, can't get it to work. Is there some setting I'm missing. It also sends emails to my account, that works.

I do have the software installed on the new phone too, so it should work.

Assuming the old phone is de-activated and is operating as a wifi only device, text messaging won't happen since it needs to be linked to an active Verizon account to enable the texting (it's linked to your phone number).. Since you can't have the same phone number active on two devices simultaneously, you can't text from one phone to the other.

If it is sending emails, have it send an email to your_phone_number@vzwpix.com. That should come to your phone as a text message.

Thank you for the reply.. the app said it would work. oh well, the app is salienteye.

I tried to send to the phone like you said, phonenumber@vzwpix.com, the app will not let me put in the @ symbol.

I guess it just wont do it, I was begin to think that was the case.

You said the app will send emails - put that in the email spot to send a text message, if you can add more than one email.
