Does the iPhone 5C (and the iPad 3) have auto sensing power supplies so I can travel from the US to Ireland and simply use a plug converter to recharge?
Yes, works just fine with an adapter to the new plug format, but does not need a converter.
You can always confirm by looking at the charger, it will say input 115-240 volts, I indicating safe to plug into 240 v sockets.
