I have turned off the phone, waited 5 min and turned back on. Still says one unread. HELP
If using the stock email app, you might need to resync the account and wait a bit.
I have same problem re syncing does not help. have you found a solution?
Remove the account. Reboot. Re add. Reboot.
If it is the stock Email app, go to settings, application manager, all apps and find the Email App.
Clear the cache and then clear all data. Reload your Email accounts and see if that resolves the problem.
So remove account
Reboot
Add the email address back in
Reboot again

That is another option. My suggestion wipes all Email addresses & Email related settings so it is the equivalent of starting with a blank piece of paper.
