Phone is sending the same text over and over again when the text was only sent once. Went to Verizon and they took battery out and put back in to reset. Still having same issue. Phone is off warranty. Any suggestions?
I'm not calling it a solution yet as it's only been a day and a half, but I went to a VZW store and spoke to a human yesterday because I couldn't take it anymore. He suggested trying the Google Messenger MMS app and so far (fingers crossed), it seems to be working. It still appears there's a bit of a lag time when sending, but the few texts I've sent have been successful and single copies. So, this is something the folks in this thread may want to try!
Jeffeyblue,
I can certainly imagine how that would be quite the inconvenience and we definitely want your device working as it should. How long has this been going on exactly? Have there been any changes to the device since this started such as new apps, app updates, or software updates? Does this happen everywhere you go or in certain locations? Happen with specific messages?

Going on since Oct. Happens at random times. I could send a text and it is received once or the recipient could get it multiple times. I know of no changes to the device. I recently attached photos to a text I sent and the recipient got the text and photos 300 times.
This information is very helpful Jeff, thanks. Let’s get some more details, and explore ways to resolve this multiple messaging issue. Do you experience this issue when you message in a particular place (home, school, office), or ZIP code? What messaging application do you use? What is your phone’s software version? http://spr.ly/6584BX51I

Mines doing it too. Been for a while. Needs to be fixed. Its embarassing. Im just using the texting that comes w the phone. It happens everywhere
I too am having this issue. It seems random and began several weeks ago. It happens both on and off of wifi, and I am using the stock messaging app. My phone has been updated according to all the releases. At first it was just one or two copies of a text, but today my mother received one 70x. This is crazy. Is it a G3 issue? It appears a lot of people are having this problem.
We’re committed to resolve this multiple text messaging issue as quickly as possible Lindsey. Thanks for the details provided in your post. My resources indicate that first step is to confirm if any third party applications conflicts exist. Please run your phone in Safe Mode and test sending text messages while in Safe mode. Let us know if issue continues while in Safe Mode or if it stops. http://spr.ly/6585BkDDx
I attempted your suggestion and texted a contact a couple times. They still received 5+ copies each time. The fact that I don't use or download a bunch of apps, and this didn't work leads me to believe it's a deeper issue than a app conflict. Any other suggestions? I really need this feature to work - we pay a lot of money to have these communication devices work properly. Thanks for your continued help here.
I have the exact same problem with my LG G3. I've tried using both the default messaging app and also the Verizon Message+ app and the issue is npt related to the messaging app being used because the device sends multiple texts regardless of the messaging app.
After sending a text, the app shows "sending" and never changes to "sent" while the destination receives the text over and over again.
This is deeper than the messaging app and needs a fix ASAP.
Verizon guy/gal, So what specifically is Verizon going to do to fix the problem for us? It's great to be "sweet talked" but need specifics. This is more than a take the battery out and put the battery back in or clear cache or try safe mode issue.
Thank you so much for testing that out, lmo2312. We definitely want to get your messages working correctly. We have sent further feedback to LG to look into this issue as well. We still want to continue to troubleshoot and locate a fix. Have you noticed if this happens with the same contact? Have you tried erasing your text message threads?

Jeffeyblue,Having texts sent so many times of the same thing is quite troublesome, indeed. We are definitely here to help you with getting this message mystery resolved. What text app are you using on your phone? Is it the Verizon+ message app (red icon) or the stock text app that came with the phone? Is every text you send to everyone being received multiple times or is it just to specific people that this happens to? Were you able to check if the software is up to date on your phone & were you able to put the phone in Safe Mode for a few hours like asked from the previous representatives? With gaining answers to these questions, I’m confident that we can fix this for you. Thanks for any & all details that you can provide. I am in the same boat with my LG G3. My mom and fiance who are both Verizon customers receive multiple texts from me randomly. I am on the latest software, don't clutter my phone and use the standard messaging app. The issue just started happening early January for me.
I too have been using Google Messenger for a couple days. What I notice is that Google Messenger can't always tell if the text was delivered and will time out with a message "Not sent. Touch to try again." but it doesn't seem to retry sending the text on its own. I suspect the default Messaging app and the Message+ app aren't getting an acknowledgement that the text was delivered and those apps and are retrying. Hence the multiple messages being sent. Question is why is this phone unable to see acknowledgements starting in late Dec 2015?
I have also experienced this issue for almost two, months now. Stock app, stock everything actually. It really is just completely random. I literally have had friends tell me to stop texting them until I get a new phone. I am downloading google messenger as I type this, but this is really ridiculous. This issue is posted all over the internet and yet still no fix. Vzw, you have failed me.
Same problem here, very annoying & no solution was given for my issue either.
My LG g3 is also sending multiple txt. Everyone is getting annoyed with me. Please let me know of they come up with a fix. Thank you!
My G3 was also doing the same thing.....I was using the Google Hangouts for SMS/MMS, cleared data from application manager found in settings....worked for just a little bit......then tried using the Google messaging app, same result...multiple texts.....then cleared app data and retried the messaging app, no luck.....then did a full factory reset after doing a backup to verizon cloud of apps/contacts/etc.....then started using the messaging+ app, no issues so far....really thinking it was the factory reset that fixed the issue and not the switch to messaging+, but seeing i have had no issues....am staying with messaging+ until a need to try something else comes along.
My G3 is doing the same thing. has Verizon come up with a fix yet?
Churchrw-
Let's get those messages flowing correctly. Multiple messages is not good. When did the trouble with the messages start? Is the phone connected to Wi-Fi or our network when this occurs? What text application do you use? Keep us posted so that we can assist further.
