Trying to find a way to turn off spell checking. Nothing under application settings.

Thank you for your message. Spellcheck is a function of the keyboard. Please go into your keyboard settings to see if you have that option for that keyboard.
KEYBOARD SETTINGS (might differ slightly per device)
Go to:
Settings (the 'wheel icon on your device)>
My Device>
Language and Input>
Find your keyboard and select the ‘wheel’ icon next to it;
Select ‘Text Correction’ to adjust your settings.
Review your other keyboard settings.
