Responding to verizon email - "Unfortunately, mail has stopped" msg

Why do i see this message when i try to respond to email from my mail app?

"Unfortunately, mail has stopped."

Is this a Verizon issue or issue with this mail app? On the verizon website, i can respond with no problems. On my HTC smartphone , i get this error message.

Also, i have no issue with composing and sending.. only with responding. Weird.

This is a mail app with Verizon email settings. Worked find until today.

Both replying and forwarding dont work. I can only compose and send (on my smart phone).

Sounds like a server hangup to me. Remove the account from the phone and add it back again usually resets and refreshes the email server settings.

I have the same problem. Clearing data and resetting up the accounts does NOT solve the problem.

So when you say remove, you mean delete it, right? and then re-add all the info. I guess i need to write all the settings down first. Someone else says that did not work though. WHat causes this annoying issue?

You should use the current settings from the email provider in case the settings on the phone are outdated.

Remove means delete the account from the phone.

Ok, so i didnt think any settings have changed.

pop.verizon.net = Server port 995

smtp.verizon.net = Server port 465.

i guess i need to call VZ wireless again. Problem is that their phone system was down yesterday and i couldnt get through. Is that fixed yet. I went through all the questions and selections and then it said Call cannot be completed as dialed blah blah. So frustrating. can you post the proper settings????

Let me know if you find anything that works. Adding this to the list of pc issues i have. Has been a week riddled with tech issues..they just keep coming. I thought my phone was pretty solid, but now this.

I downloaded a different email client (Blue Mail) from the Google play store and it works. Technically, it doesn't solve the problem, only provides a work around for the stock email client.

Ok, thanks though. It's a solution even thought it doesnt solve the root cause. Others out there, plz chime in. I know it isnt just us two.

I noticed that Google synch hasnt been working on phone. "Synch is currently experiencing problems. It will be back soon." Can this affect/effect/impact Mail app on my phone? not sure who owns this Mail app. my phone is HTC. App just says Mail and has white envelope and the v of the top part of envelope is red.

I may need a team of people from HTC, Verizon and Google to solve this. I will try the deletion after i get all my settings written down.

So I called in and got a human.

They told me to perform a Force close and then a clear data. Did that and re-added Mail app.

I still have the error when forwarding and replying.

So none of the troubleshooting worked. If anyone has new suggestions plz let me know.

i will contact Google about the synching issue.

Looks like I am left with finding a new email app. That Blue Mail app was tagged as High Risk by Norton Mobile Security by the way.
