Lg g4 can't wake up screen

After the update to Android 6.0 lollipop I can't wake up my screen most of the time. A few times it will work by tapping the screen or pushing the power button. And sometimes it takes several attempts. But most of the time I can't wake it up unless I plug in a charger or headphones. This is getting really annoying and if I had an emergency I can't count on being able to use my phone. Please tell me there is a fix.

There are others experiencing this issue after the 6.0 update.

Here's what happens: phone won't wake up. If I get a call, it wakes up and I can use it. If I'm playing music, I can skip through the songs like normal, but if I let it go to sleep, I can't wake it up without taking out the battery or having my wife call me. It just seems to be the wake feature that is buggy.

I posted a link on this discussion thread Update lg g4. My phone has been working for over 24 hours now. I do have a screen protector that covers the proximity sensor and re-calibration appears to have taken care of the issue.
