Since the recent update to my galaxy s5 in March, the message+ app won't give me notifications unless the app is open and on the home screen. The app notifications are on not blocked and have priority on my notifications bar. I checked the system and my notification settings are turned on, "do not disturb" is off. The system is set to sync messages over wifi and network and I'm still getting the same problem. If I restart my phone the notifications for the app work for 5 minutes then I have to go back to opening the app. All other app notifications work.
