Family Locator sent location when phone off???

Today I received a message that my child was in DELAWARE, 17 miles away. His phone was OFF, and in New Jersey.

 

Seriously, how did THIS happen? I can understand a satellite screw up, up to a mile maybe....but it was not even on!

I called the school to make sure he was in class and not kidnapped along the way. I felt quite embarrassed, but very relieved. Thanks for the heart attack, Verizon.

 

Did this ever happen to anyone else, and is it worth it>?

I've been having the same problem! Sometimes the service works perfectly, but more often than not, ever since it was upgraded, it's terrible! Are you in south jersey? that's where we live and I get Delaware all the time...sometimes it's other areas in our neighborhood too, but way off from where my daughter actually is. Also, the arrival/departure updates aren't working. I'm starting to think I should just cancel. It's a shame because it was a great feature before they messed with it.
