Verizon Wireless Overcharging?

Want to switch from Verizon. I have 18 days left on a 2 year contract. Verizon is no where interested in letting me go without a fee of $80. I was told by their own CS that the final months were prorated at $20 a month. Well I went to switch an No it will be $80. Not $20 like I was told. So anyone have any experience with this and what did you do if so?

I can wait but Xfinity has a good deal I was going to take advantage of that Verizon can't meet. $45 month perline for Unlimited, plus $200 gift card per new phone and line added.

The Early Termination Fee is spelled out in the Customer Agreement linked at the bottom of every Verizon Wireless web page.

You should wait until your contract expires and port your number before the billing cycle ends. You won't be prorated for the days of the billing cycle you don't use so you might as well get the most out of the money you paid.

It's always 100% a bad idea to eat an ETF when you have so little on a legacy 2 year contract left. At no point should that even be considered. Even 1 day left remaining on a contract would have a fee, not worth it.

As for the $45 for unlimited, that's the same thing Verizon offers for 4+ lines, $40 if on autopay.

.If you cancel a line of Service, or if we cancel it for good cause, during its contract term, you'll have to pay an early termination fee. If your contract term results from your purchase of an advanced device, your early termination fee will be $350, which will decline by $10 per month upon completion of months 7–17, $20 per month upon completion of months 18–22, $60 upon completion of month 23 and will be $0 upon completion of the contract term.

As stated in the customer agreement, $80 termination fee after the 23rd month dropping to $0 after contract completion. Some in the past have left before completion and paid the $80 fee. Others have waited until completion and not had any fee.
