Just an observation

When T-Mobile offered free international (with limits) service in 135 foreign countries, many labeled it a gimmick that few would ever need or use. Now Sprint has instituted a similar free international service. Do most here still feel it is a gimmick or is it something Verizon should be looking at? VZW reacts to the other carrier's offerings, such as the 55+ and unlimited data plans; why not limited free international service (other than Canada and Mexico)?

From the T-Mobile website:

"Texting & data abroad: Standard speeds approximately 128kbps."

When people on Verizon get those speeds, they label it as "unusable" so if Verizon were to just match T-Mobile's offer I can only imagine the backlash Verizon would get...

That is a valid observation, but I currently use wifi for data when I travel a couple times a year. It would be nice though to have calling and texting available when not near a hotspot. I refuse to pay another $80 for two phones to send a couple of texts. My base rate (55+) for two phones is now only $80 plus taxes.

Sprint's 55+ plan is looking better and better.
