My 2-day-old Droid 2 holds a charge for only about 8 hours. Since acquiring it, I have fully charged it 4 times in 2 days! Battery manager is set for Nightime Saver. Any suggestions?
I have the same problem. The battery life is horrible.
I have received better battery life by doing the following:
I have had my phone approximately 2 weeks and initially the battery was draining very fast. I read it may take a week of charging cycles for the battery to perform as expected. It will now last 24 hrs or or more if I am not constantly using it or about 16+ hrs with moderate use.
the battery sucks on this phone! im about to take it back
Every smartphone out there has limited battery capability. However, if you think of what they do, it's no wonder. The biggest power hog is the display itself. It eats up more than half the juice. So, lowering the bightness, and give it less time before it falls asleep helps a little. Adding a good task killer to your apps helps a little. I use "advanced task killer" and it does a pretty good job. Surfing the net is great, except it eats up the battery. Same with texting. All said and done, if you think turning in your Droid 2 and getting, maybe, a Droid X or a Droid Incredible, forget it. You will still have poor battery life.
I reduced the screen brightness and am now getting significantly better battery life.
Also consider Advanced Task Cleaner or Advanced Task Killer from the market.
Turn off GPS WiFi and Bluetooth until you need them.
I also found a 1500 mah replacement battery from Seidio for under $50.00 The std battery is 1300mah.
They also have a 2800mah but it makes the phone bulky.
All smartphones eat up the battery- just need to charge the fing thing often- price of progress
The only problem there is since it is not from Motorola/Verizon, you might wipe out your warrenty.
Here are some options available for extending the battery life for your Motorola Droid 2. Many applications and widgets use the Internet. It is recommended to review the applications and widgets being used to ensure the proper balance between battery life and device usage. Additionally, it is recommended to turn off any un-necessary running services such as additional wireless radios (WiFi, Bluetooth, and Satellite GPS). The tone notification uses less power than the vibrate notification. Adjusting display settings such as: screen brightness, timeout, etc. can also effect battery life.
Stop Running Application:
From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located on the bottom of the screen).
Touch Settings.
Touch Applications.
Touch Running services. Touch the desired service.Touch Stop.

Touch Settings. Touch Location & security.Touch Use GPS satellites.

Touch Settings.Touch Wireless & networks.
Touch WiFi.
Vibrate Mode

Motorola has a "Power Control" widget to give easy access to several settings.

let me first say a task killer is unnecessary on a smart phone but i have one anyway because i am stubborn and i just want to be sure lol. also i keep my phone in nighttime saver mode and i erase the history so as not to clog my phone up with any needless information and memory usage. i have found a free easy to use app that achieves this end. on your phone go to market>apps>tap the search icon>type in history eraser>tap history eraser DUMAPIC (should be the second one listed)>tap install>open app>the easiest way to delete all history at once is the bomb>and depending on how much you browse the internet, call people, etc. is how often you need to delete your history. i do it about twice everyday. and i use my phone quite a bit for texting i go upwards to 1400 texts a month (at least an hour alone spent texting everyday) and play games everyday (another 1 - 2 hours a day) and listen to music everyday (2 - 4 hours a day) and my battery lasts 6-8 hours a day. im basically on my phone all the time unless im at work. i also have my yahoo and facebook and myspace and gmail synced to my phone. im hardly on my laptop anymore and i dont like to keep long term friends/family waiting.
