An updated guide, with additional options and a different color scheme appeared last night. Is there a summary of the changes available?
These are the changes I see :
1 : Version update : Changed from 1.9 / 10.95, to 1.9.1 / 14.47
2 : Color scheme is new / darker (and it looks so much better than before, in my opinion).
3 : DVR - Recent Deletes : you now have an option to clear everything at once, instead of having to delete each recording individually.
4 : DVR - Settings - Export Series to Cloud : I tried it and it said it exported my data successfully. I can only assume it would allow me to replace the DVR and then import my series from the cloud to my replacement DVR.
5 : Parental Controls - Advanced : there are now options for VOD and DVR sharing. After playing with them - it prevents parentally blocked content from appearing in either the VOD My Library or the (MR)DVR lists - very cool. If I order an R rated VOD movie in my bedroom, it no longer appears under My Library in my sons room, since his set top has parental controls blocking that rating (in 1.9 it would be in the list, but he couldn't watch it since he needed the PIN, now in 1.9.1 it doesn't even show in the list.)
6 : Settings - Set Top Box - LED Brightness : You can adjust the brightness of the front display, between High / Normal / Low (I never had a problem with this before, but the Low setting is growing on me.)
7 : Settings - Set Top Box - Auto Power Off : looks like you can set a timeout for (2/3/4/Never) hours for the set top to turn itself off (my box was set to never, don't think I'll change it).
8 : Settings - Television - Info/Channel Bar Time Out : you can now adjust the delay for the bar across the bottom of the screen, when changing channels or pressing Info. (I set my channel change bar to 2 seconds, and info bar to 10 seconds.)
9 : Last button for DVR : I have found that my Last button, now works to toggle between a live channel and a recording I'm playing back.
I think thats about all I can see thats new.
Thanks for your summary! I saw some of those things (new color scheme which is a definite improvement, the new functionality of the Last button, and some of the additional options you mentioned). I had recently received a Test Panel survey regarding how long the Information Bar needed to be on the screen, so having the shorter op[tion is also most welcome. Regards.
Could either one of you or anyone else who got that 1.91 IMG update provide those of us who have been waiting for that new release with some more information about the new guide? If you had the 1.8 IMG i was wondering if it is similar to the 1.8 as far as the size of the guide is and how are images that appear on it? Did they change the size of it or did it remain the same? Also i was wondering if either one of you who got the new updated guide could provide us with some screenshots for those of us who are anticipating the new guide update any day now? The size of the guide with the 1.9 IMG was a major issue for people when it was released and as you can see for a lot of people by looking at the threads it was huge problem for them along with the colors.
Does anyone know if this is going to be a delayed rollout by VHO?

There is a more dtailed list list posted on DSLReports that can be found part way down on THIS PAGE (page 7 of the IMG 1.9.1 thread).
Thank you, 0100010 and Keyboards, for details about the new guide. I don't have it yet, but it sounds like a great improvement, assuming it's easy to read.I don't understand why Verizon doesn't provide easily-located information whenever it does something like this.
Here are two pictures so those of you who have not yet gotten the new 1.9.1 level can maybe get a general idea of the changes in the Guide appearance. I apologize for the quality of the pictures, I am far from being even a remotely qualified photographer.
1.9a:
1.9.1
The pictures were taken on the same TV using the same camera, but obviously from slightly different angles and lighting.
At this point I really prefer the original 1.9 version, it is brighter and for me, easier to read. But that does not mean that the 1.9.1 Guide is hard to read. And maybe it is just that I am used to the old version, with time I am sure I will adapt to the new version (well, I guess I have to......). Plus, I don't have FiOS TV to watch the Guide, I have it to watch the actual TV programs
One really, really nice change is the ability to control how long the info banner is on the screen when you change channels or hit the OK or FiOS TV buttons. I have it set to 2 seconds, works well for me instead of the 8 seconds or so it was displayed before, which drove me nuts.

I don't understand either why Verizon has not yet provided the information on what has changed in 1.9.1. In the past they have sometimes provided Release Notes in the Idea Exchange, but so far I don't see anything. Hopefully they will put something out soon.
Besides the comment I made earlier about the display time for the info banner, another change I really like is the ability to pause a recorded program, use the Last button to go to a live channel, and then use the Last button to get back to the recorded program, nice change.
It is ridiculous that we have to search through settings and press buttons at random ourselves to find out what is new or has been fixed.
There will be no official release notes so that is why I posted them from my many months of notes working with the IMG team.

I'm not bothered about having to figure out new options but I was just wondering myself why there wasn't any announcement or information posted about this ahead of time so we would know when this was coming. Or was there and I missed it? Many of us have busy lives so I only knew about this by surprise.
It appears as though not only the guide is darker but the TV screen is darker on all of my TVs with this upgrade. Obviously this adjustment was not tested properly. Go back to the old or give us the option not to be downgraded I mean upgraded.
Why did my overall picture quality get darker with this upgrade? does anyone know?
"4 : DVR - Settings - Export Series to Cloud : I tried it and it said it exported my data successfully. I can only assume it would allow me to replace the DVR and then import my series from the cloud to my replacement DVR."
And you would be wrong to assume that this feature is actually working. I got my replacement 7232-2 today, exported the series from the "old" 7232-2, plugged in the new unit and the menu only allows me to export, there's no import command. Customer Service had no idea this feature even exists. They told me if it's there it's probably not active as they don't know anything about it. That's after talking with 2 different reps and wasting 4 hours on the phone.
Great job Verizon!!! Keep it like that and I'll probably switch to Cox.

There is no option anywhere in the Menu to reload your series data. Instead, when you try to set up your first series on the new DVR it will recognize that you exported your series info from the previous DVR and ask if you want to import it. Say yes, and magically all of your old scheduled series recordings will reappear (may take a little time).
I have done the export but have not had a need to replace my DVR so have not actually done the import. But I have seen feedback from other customers that it works. For example, from a post by edgar on the HiDef Forum:

"I wish I could have seen this E-mail before Saturday . I got the 7232 on Saturday and set it up next to the 6XXXX. Since I could not see a down load option I called “Technical Support”. The “technician” didn’t know that you can save the series settings to the cloud. I had to tell him where the setting was. After a while back & forth asking to others, he said that when you connect a new one a setting for downloading will show up which is not true, that’s why I called. So I hung up the phone & “manually” set up to record “ The Closer”. When I hit save, it asked something like Do I want to set the settings from another STB? I thought it was from the previous settings for The Closer so I said Yes & the schedule showed “the Closer” and nothing else. Later on that night while watching the shows recorded on the old DVR I switched to the 7232 and Voila, all the series from the old DVR automagically showed up on the new DVR. So saving your series settings to the cloud works, then like Justin said when try to you save a series recording even though I can’t remember the way it was worded, answer Yes. After a while the series should appear on the new DVR. "
Hope this helps.

I just discovered how to do it 5 min ago and came back here to post the solution but you beat me to the punch
It's very interesting to note that two different reps told me they have never heard of this feature and if it's there it's not implemented yet and wasted so much time all while you and other customers know how to use it.
Just want to say that, while this "auto import" seems to be working for many, it absolutely is not working for me. I've performed the steps outlined here and by Verizon - "Export Series Recordings" on the old box, setup the new one, record a series. Nothing..!! No pop-up, no request to import.
So if anyone else is reading this and wondering why it's not working for them, rest assured, it doesn't work for others as well.
Why Verizon can't figure out to simply add an "import series" option, I don't know. Rather than repeat this process over and over, I am simply manually re-entering all of my recordings.

If you would bother to look at the dates for the posts in this thread you would see that it is a very old thread, it does not apply to the new 1.9.4 level of the IMG. The last post before yours was made well before 1.9.4 distribution began.
There is now a Restore option in the Menu:
Menu ==> Settings ==> Restore Settings
A companion option to the Save Settings dialog.
Menu ==> Settings ==> Save Settings
Note that with 1.9.4 more than just series information is saved when you do a Save Settings in 1.9.4:
Note that the save/restore settings dialogs are intended for when you are replacing an STB, but I have saved my settings from my DVR under 1.9.4 and restored them to another STB (non-DVR) successfully.
I have no idea whether the Restore Settings dialog will restore the series schedule from a save done under 1.9.1. I doubt it will work because the Restore Settings dialog looks for named saved files in the cloud for you to pick from, but you can certainly give it a try and see (and if you do, then please report back whether it works or not).
