Incoming Call Block

I used incoming Call Block on my TV for a number that keeps calling. It confirmed it was on the Call Block list. However, yesterday that numbr called again. I again clicked on Call Block and a notice came up saying that number was already on the Call Block list.

I have never used this feature before and I ddn't setup the Voicemail feature on my computer. Do you need to do that for the incoming Call block feature to work? All the other features such as Call Back, Delete Call, etc. work without using that setup on the computer.

Depends on what the number is, it may not be able to be blocked by Verizon.

If it's out of area, a cell phone or a business number, then there's a possibility that it simply can't be blocked by them. a caller ID manager (you would buy that at a store) can block it if it's one of those scenario's.

Call BlockYou can use Call Block to automatically block incoming calls using a screening list that you create. Call Block will reject calls from phone numbers that match those on your Call Block list. Your Call Block list is limited to either 6 or 12 numbers, depending on your region.

When a blocked caller reaches your telephone number, they will hear a recording saying you are not presently accepting calls. You can temporarily deactivate Call Block or change your Call Block list at any time.

Calls made to you from outside your local calling area, through operator assistance, or from cell phones and some business phones cannot be blocked.

All calling features are subject to availability and compatibility restrictions.

No it should not be needed to for the call block to work. Even though you have the number in the call block list, please make sure you have the feature enabled. For more information on using call block, please refer to https://www36.verizon.com/fiosvoice/userguide/User_Guide.pdf . If you need any additional assistance, please reply back to let us know.

I already had read the Verizon Guide,but went back again (It's on Page 8.) It has no place on the TV to activate this feature, although it keeps telling me the number I blocked is already on the blocked list.

I recently had a similar scenario with United Way robo-caller calling me repeatedly despite it being on my block list. Verizon tech support said United Way is not blocked since they are a 'reputable' company. I argued that was subjective opinion and irrelevant; blocked list should block! And/or limitations should be declared and not hidden as obscure footnote in user guide. This may or may not apply to your situation. Just sharing my recent experience with Verizon. Good Luck.

I keep getting calls which caller ID shows as 'Unavailable'. Both with phone numbers (mostly spoofed) and without. What is the point of call block if it cannot block what it is intended to block? Moreover, why limit the number of blocks? These pro spammers have a virtually unlimited number of phone numbers to use to spam me. Verizon is the phone company for crying out loud. One would think that they might use a bit of their tech savvy to get rid of this annoying junk.

I had a couple of annoying numbers on my call block list. I used the Verizon web site to add these. But i keep getting calls. I contacted the support chat and was told this is a known error and there's no date or estimate when it will be fixed. What use is this feature if it doesn't work. These sales calls are so annoyind its a waste of time reporting them on the gov's DO NOT CALL site. I'm thinking of cancelling my Verizon home phone, it's more trouble than it's worth and go back to just having my cell phone.

Not precisely a feature that doesn't work. But some incoming calls are sent in such a way that the caller gets around call blocking, and they are trying to fix it.

How can I place incoming Call Blocks on numbers that show up on my caller ID as Out of the Area, and the number contains less than 10 digits?

Why are we limited to 10 numbers to be blocked. Doesn't Verizon KNOW ABOUT SCAMMERS and TELEMARKETERS? I use digitone right now and even that only holds so many numbers. Thankfully I can block area codes, but at this rate, I may have to change my number. I can't exactly cancel the number because I have an all in one printer, which faxes, which I need. And I DON'T need these constant telemarketers calling me all the time, when I am having back issues and facing BACK SURGERY!! Please fix the block feature ASAP or we may have to go higher up here.

I completely agree that call block is pathetic. A lot of people have complained about this for the last couple of years but Verzon doesn't seem to care...

Here is an idea: If and when you get a telemarketing call from an 888 or 800 number, pick up and as soon as you hear that it's a telemarketing call, tell the caller immediately that you're not interested and to please put you on the "do not call" list. Yes, it's the old fashioned way but it works and that will end all future calls from that number right then and there. Or if you're not home to pick up, call the number back and many of them will have an automated system that allows you to opt out of future calls from that number.

Technology can make life easier but even at its best, it only goes so far. The incoming call block feature is not the greatest and it's a pain. But when my time is limited, I just keep things as simple as possible. I just don't have the time to write down the number, pull up my call log features from the TV menu, and add the number to my list with the remote. I don't even remember which blocked phone numbers may still be there.

You can also get on the National Do Not Call List (donotcall.gov).

It's amazing how technology conditions us to become so dependent on these extra features that never used to be considered necessities but that's my opinion.

If you have FiOS Digital Voice then you can turn on Simultaneous Ring and make use of the free NOMOROBO service. While NOMOROBO is not a Verizon service, it works very well with FiOS Digital Voice. I have been using NOMOROBO for several months now, when a robocall comes in that it recognizes the phone rings once and then blessed quiet.

fwiw, i can only block more than 10 numbers using pc interface, when i tried to block 11th number using fiostv menu, i got error about only blocking 10 number maximum....so i quickly got on puter to try and it works from here, so now we're up to 11 numbers blocked, certain to reach 100 by end of year......if fios being sold to frontier doesn't interfere with everything

holly you can test if your incoming call blocking is actually enabled by adding your cell phone number to your list thru your tv, then calling your home phone from your (blocked?) cell phone......remember to remove your cell phone number from block list when done.

I had the same problem until I deselected (removed the check mark) from block all anonymous calls. It appears you only have the option of listing certain numbers or only block annyomnus calls, not both. Don't forget to click "Save" after your selection. Verizon should give us both features that works at the same time.

Is this really the answer to why I cannot block the frequent, annoying calls from a business? I have followed Verizon's directions on the support page on how to block a call from the call log. NOWHERE does the support page indicate that the limitation described in the following "solution". This is a "solution"? This is ludicrous if true.

So what's my recourse? Do I need to call the local and state governments about Verizon not providing services that they state they provide? This is frustration piled on frustration: 1) weekly and more often cold phones calls from a business I did not know or solicity; 2) a Verizon service that is so limited as to be useless for the most common kind of harassing call.

I agree with the limit of numbers that can be blocked. FIOS Please Increase ! I changed to Digital Voice because FIOS has a 100 Blocked Call list. I am up to 30 blocked numbers in 2 weeks and will soon be at MAX. They each seem to have unlimited numbers to call from ! Increase it to 1000 or UNLIMITED !!! We pay enouggh for FIOS to do that !

I'd like to share a much more effective way to block calls that I recently (gleefully) discovered. Instead of using the Incoming Call Block (which requires that you constantly add new numbers to block because the robocallers constantly change, plus you end up having to listen to and delete a lot of unwanted messages), use the Do Not Disturb feature under CAlling Features. Activate "Play the system Do Not Disturb greeting," then input the phone numbers that you want to allow to get through (e.g., your mom, your kid, your dentist office). Unfortuately only 10 numbers are allowed on this list -- VERIZON, please increase the number and please allow an us to add an identifying name with each number!! I must say that, despite the limitation on breakthrough numbers allowed, this has been very effective way for me to block calls because most people call me on my cell phone anyway.
