Getting error code 3002 in Poughkeepsie NY
Still down in Sutton MA
Was getting a login failure earlier, but now I can log on but there is no mail do download. Hope there is a backup on the way.....
For those saying they'll go to gmail instead, remember it also went down for around 24 hours not so long ago. All email systems I know depend on a server of some kind at some point in their journey. Servers crash.
Accusing Verizon of not having backups is misplaced. Of course they have backups of data - the problem is the email app process itself going bad.
Email down in MA
why does Verizon not put a message up on there website.?
I called the phone and it is announced on tech support line
I've finally been able to log in and rec'd one email at 350 pm est - but when I did log in, I had ONE email, and I had a database of some 5,000 emails prior to this morning 😞 why in the heck isn't this on the news anywhere?? Verizon trying to keep it hush hush??
Email came back within the last hour here in SE Mass, Had two recent emails, I should have had 20 or so. Also my one folder has gone missing.
In MA...
no longer get the errors on logging in - but everything is gone. All folders. Can now re-add the account on my mobile email and it takes, but all empty there too.
I just got access to my email page ,but all emails (sent, inbox, saved emails ) are gone. In fact it's like I'm starting all over as it says "No Folders". Is there any way I can get my emails back?

It is now 4:23 PM Eastern time. My email has been down ALL DAY. I am currently able to log in sporadically--I still sometimes get the now all-too-familiar 3002 error but occasionally I get the "normal" but depressingly emty email screen. I have no historical data whatsoever. I sent myself a test message from a freebie email account and I don't see that in my inbox. This is not a good omen; I had quite a bit of historical mail.
I happen to do email for a living, and all-day outages and apparent loss of data just DO NOT happen. Even when we run disaster recovery tests we have basic function back in an hour along with an EMAIL EXPLAINING WHAT'S GOING ON and the expected timeline for historical data restores.

Philly
e-mail bakc up but all folderss are empty except for 5 new emails messages. Hope all the messages are restored soon.
I'm in Fredericksburg, VA and it has been down all day. Has Verizon provided any explanation on the outage or an estimate for time to recover?
I'm thrilled! the first of the month and ALL my credit card bills, utility bills, bank statements and other important emails from other creditors and tenants covering all the rentals I own appear to be lost.
Thanks Verizon.
Re. the empty folders (mine, too) ...
The empty folders shouldn't mean that incoming mail (into Verizon's servers) during the outage was lost. Incoming mail should have been refused by Verizon's servers and stored for retry-transmission sender-side. (Internet mail is a humongous store-and-forward contraption.) It often takes many hours for the retransmissions to trickle in. End-to-end, the result should be mail that's delayed, but not dropped.
Restoring messages received before the outage will be about Verizon's backup procedures, a separate issue.
finally able to log into e-mail.
However, only have e-mail in my inbox that was received after 2:51 PM today. None of the folders on my account exist, nor does the sent folder contain any e-mail that was previously sent. e-mail or any e-mail that was in my inbox - COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE.
I have only heard (via phone automated message) that they're aware of an email problem and are working to restore it.
Hearsay in this thread has said customer service has given a 24-48h estimate.
No Verizon employee has posted in this thread with explanation, description, or ETR.
At least one Verizon tagged person (Heather_VZ) has posted in this thread that it is being investigated (and may have said it was being worked on). Message 79. I have not seen a posting from an official associated with the company since page 8, but might have missed one.

Our email went out in Tampa as well but has come back on.....now I want to know what has happened to all the email between 830pm last night and 3pm today?
Email is back up in Newton, MA, but only one message is in the queue. It may take time to restore.
I have sent test messages to my verizon account and they did not bounce, so I'm hopeful.
After not being able to receive new e mails for several hours, I uplugged the router and replugged after a minute. One new e mail arrived on the PC, not on the iphone (messages always arrive in both places) In addition, all existing messages that were in the inbox on the Verizon server have disappeared
ALL of my stored email & folders, sent, drafts, etc are gone. Thanks.Verizon.
Their latest service tweet says that they are trying to restore the mailboxes, but it's going to take time:
Your saved e-mails are not lost. Verizon is working to restore them to your inbox. Please follow our progress here: http://www.verizon.com/outage

Losing some folders would be absolutely unacceptable to me, as some contained important loan and financial info, buysiness contacts, etc. Hopefully, they will be restored somehow. (This is why I hate the Internet and too much dependence on it...it's just not safe or secure and things can easily disappear.)
They lost all my folders and said they were not sure if they could recover them,
the service is not free because we pay for the entire experience. And security is part of the service.
Someone might start a class action lawsuit if the information is not restored.
Everyone should call and threaten to leave Verizon unless they recover all the emails.
My contract is up for
Lost all my inbox emails and folders with very important info. One was a gift card of $100 that now cannot be used.
Thanks alot Verizon - will you be reimbursing your customers for lost valuables like this and credit our accounts for
no email access for so long????????
Very disappointed customer
OK so I got those same messages, but it came back up about 3pm EDT... BUT ALL MY PRIOR EMAILS WERE GONE, ALL FOLDERS EMPTY!!!
I went in to my email today and to my surprise all of my emails have been deleted along with all my folders. Noone else has access to this computer, where did they go? Can verizon delete your emails and folders? I had very important emails that I saved and now they are all gone! If anyone else had/has a problem with emails disappearring please let me know.
broken link. "badrequest"
Update: Received an email in Windows Live, through Verizon webmail - yay! ten Checked webmail itself - inbox totally wiped out. Called customer support, explained that I was now able to receive emails, and asked what happened to my inbox. CS representative then repeated - five times - that he understood I was not able to check my email. Each time I corrected him, told him I was now able to check mail, and had in fact received a few messages; issue was that previous contents of my inbox and folders were gone. Eventually got out of him that inbox would be restored at some point. THEN was told that I was not the only one experiencing this problem; thousands of customers could not check their email. Explained to the operator that I was, in fact, calling on behalf of those thousands of customers, who'd received no real information since 9 a.m. this morning. (Cut my losses and stopped trying to convince him that I was now able to check my email). Am holding out hope that boxes and folders will be restored. (tho' no hope at all for CS rep who could not understand English).
lost all e-mails prior to 2:51 pm today, also all special folders, only thing still there is contact lost. Earlier (AROUND 10:30 am), tried to log on, unable and got some type of java error message. Was there something glitched up, and can my info/E-mails be retrieved?
I just got of the phone and the rep sad it is not the policy of Verizon to re-store anything and that they suggest that I should have had a backup system inplace. Go figure!
Yep! same thing happened to me today. I am somewhat literate and it looks like maybe a big server crash, and that Verizon just put back a start-up shell like when you first set up your E-mail. Mine lost everything before 2;51 PM today!
