I do not like the new "on demand" format and why are some stations charging to watch their programs on " on demand"?
I agrree the new TV listing is the worst possible menu. You have to look at pictures of movies you watched 20 years ago.
change it NOW or ill go to comcast
Verizon recently updated the DVR Guide and I think it is absolutely awful. To get to a show or movie you want you have to slowly scroll through pictures alphabetically, which takes forever. Much more difficult than the previous format. Does anyone agree?
The new on demand menu is horrible and looking over some of the comments many people feel the same way I do. Please change to back to what it was.
I couldn't agree more. The new menu stinks. It's dark and depressing, difficult to navigate, slow and cumbersome. Why did they have to "fix" or change something that wasn't broken??? Verizon should give their customers the option to keep the original menu. With the exhorbitant amounts of money they charge to give us one of the worst services and channel lineup around, and a customer service that requires hours on the phone trying to get an answer to your questions or requests from different and ignorant employees - if you are lucky - they should make it easier and not worse. For some time I've thinking to switch to another provider more customer friendly, and this is probably one of the reasons why I should do it.
Regarding the new menu for On demand progams, absolutely terrible.
Firstly the menu is tiny even when highlighted,
Second it seems to take forever to scroll what you want and then it takes time to get the episode you want.
May I ask why did you change, the old addage, if it's not broke don't fix it and if you do fix it to the advantage to the customer.
Please either go back.
This new menu is a total disappointment and a frustration to use. Who wants to scroll endlessly through graphics of movies?? I just want to list and choose without wasting time. Switching to Comcast when contract is up.
On Demand menus much harder to use.
Most technologies companies put nw interfaces in front of user design feedback panels to test for usability before rolling out to all their customers. Clearly, the FIOS user design team does not do this!!
For FIOS Menu Design Team:
The new OnDemand menu doesn't show the full description of movies on HBO or SHO. This is MUCH more important than showing icons of the cast.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE show the entire movie description versus truncating it after x characters. NEED to see the entire movie descriptions!
New User Interface for on demand is the worst thing. I have ever seen. Incredibly cumbersome. All I want to do is find a TV episode I have missed and it takes forever to scroll to it. Awful, awful, awful
The new format for VOD sucks! I liked the old format. Takes 3 times as long to find shows and now I have to pay to get caught up on shows I may have missed.
I pay a lot for FIOS and now they are charging even more. Might be time to go back to Comcast.
I agree, the new FOD menu is horrible. Plus, they added commercials to most of the movies so I rarely use FOD anymore. May look elsewhere because most of the reasons I came over to FIOS are gone: Weatherscan Local, Ease of On Demand menu, On Demand without commercials for the most part, and Unedited On Demand movies are all ghanged/gone. However, the price keeps going up so it is getting to where it is not worth it.
Hello Verizon,
Are you listening to these complaint about the new VOD menu?? It is cumbersome to navigate and the added commercials and editing of the free movies and television shows without being able to fast forward is an inconvenience. We are paying for the service, so it is not "free" in reality. Please hear the complaints and put the VOD back to the previous version until the bugs and navigation is correected. Thanks.
I hope they are listening to these complaints. It is horrible.
Is there a way to get the old On Demand menu back? The new one is difficult to navigate and unreliable. Often, I give up and decide to go watch a DVD or Netflix because I can't get to what I want. Sometimes (very rarely) it gives me options up at the top of the screen and I can choose tv, movie, recently watched, etc. However, most of the time, those options don't appear and I just get a screen full of pay-per-view movies. If I scroll right, I get recently watched. If I scroll left, I get a search. Those are the only options I've been able to figure out, and I've tried several times. I just want my old menu back. Is there a way to get rid of the downgrade and go back to the old version?

WYSIWYG
Top bar is for major content menus.
Once you find what you want, ie TV, movies, etc, hit the down arrow and you will get a menu for that content.
Yeah. I figured that. I e-mailed verizon and included links to this forum topic and another one I found that complained about the same issue. I'd post the e-mal address, but apparently Verizon doesn't like their e-mail being posted on their website...
But hopefully they'll take the time to read through the 20 pages of complaints people have.

The top bar is rarely on my menu. Hitting the down arrow does nothing. Hitting the up arrow does nothing either.
When you hit one demand button, what options do you have?
mine starts at featured. Then my stuff, movies, tv , kids and more.
each one shows a menu on the left that hitting down arrow allows me to navigate.
The top bar disappears about once a week for me, I have to reboot the stb in order to get it back. Horrendous design.
Yep, the new VOD is horrible! Terrrrribly slow and very hard to navigate. Even worse, I now have to pay for shows on channels I have.
This has me shopping for a new provider.
It is really bad this changed never works good, not an easy one to use. Fios please change it it is really bad.
totally agree. I am actually considering going with a different company. I can barely watch the premium channels I pay for. I never can find anything without spending a ridiculous amount of time scrolling through posters. I hate it!
Also just switched from Comcast X1 to Fios due to costs. The Fios search is 15 years old, I worked at the first On Demand company so this is the truth! Please upgrade your search, then let's re-engineer the other outdated components. BTW your On Demand top menu needs a user-based overhaul. Took me two days to find where the list of all the HBO movies were. Thanks for listening!
Cox has licensed X1 and should be available in a few months.
So why is Verizon's on demand so horrible. The filters are non existent on the cable box making me search for movies on my phone than the phone won't even bookmark them to my box. Previously being an Xfinity customer I have to say Verizon is way behind on this. Just adding filters on the box would help a ton. I have all the premium channels and just want to browse what NEW movies are on them without having to go through every movie on each network individually. Let me select the networks so I can view HBO,Showtime, etc. etc. all at once and sort them via release date. If I could just do that I would be happy. I'm not even going to go into how so many movies are screwed up with descriptions not matching with the correct movie or how some are supposed to be in Spanish and aren't and those not supposed to be in Spanish are. This on demand seriously needs some work but please at least start by letting me filter through these movies. Thank you!
The new On demand interface sucks. Please bring back the original version. I barely use it anymore. It's extremely difficult to navigate, to the point where we simply don't use it anymore. Also, it locks up my set top box. It really is poorly designed and needs to be pulled. I'll guarantee you there has been significant loss of rental revenue because of this ridiculous format. Change it back.
I totally agree with everyone who hates the new VOD menus. Is there anyone who likes them?
I feel your pain. I have stopped using the Vod. Amazon and Netflix is what i use now. I will soon cancel my premium channels cause i can get them easier with subscriptions other than fios. I would let someone know how much I hate the new interface, but who would care. I will let them know with a reduced cashflow, and stop the premium channels. Horrible to try to look at the premium channel vod.
