Say I lose my iphone, which isn't covered by insurance. Would I be required to get another iphone and keep my same plan, or could I buy the cheapest phone available and just use that with a non smart-phone plan?
You can switch to a basic phone and drop off the data package if you preferred. You can switch to whatever phone you want.
