verizon cloud battery consumption on samsung s5 with marshmellow

As of marshmellow update, the vzw cloud app is consuming majority of battery though only asked to backup only at night. Any ideas why? Any best alternatives. There are some third party apps, but I cannot find any that backup the whole call log beyond 500 calls.
