1X support ending in 2019

It is my understanding that Verizon will be ending 1x (2G) service at the end of this year.  My Samsung S-7 uses 1X often to make phone calls.  I am only 1-2 miles from the tower but due to terrain and vegetation 4G is rarely available.    My question is will I still be able to make calls after the end of this year or do I need to start looking for another provider?

If you stay with Verizon Wireless, you will need to replace your phone with one capable of VoLTE calls.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I am a consumer myself so I understand the importance of being able to still make calls on your device cmc_joe. We certainly don't want to see you go because of this. I do have some good news. Your device is capable of Advanced Calling and WiFi calling. The devices that are impacted are 4G LTE smartphones that do not support Advanced Calling (HD Voice). https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-130983/ Does this help?   AmberF_VZW
