Q: When will Verizon Wireless launch its 4G LTE network?

 A: 12/5/2010. 

Q: What are the benefits of the 4G LTE network for enterprise users and

businesses?

 A: Enterprise users and businesses can immediately benefit from Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network this year. While Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network promises much more than speed, the first application gives workforces the ability to work at significantly faster speeds and improved latency, increasing productivity and the opportunity to get work done wherever business takes them. In addition, LTE will work broadly in the United States and globally, enabling businesses to mobilize the applications they frequently use when tethered to high bandwidth wired networks. 

Q: What cities are covered for the initial launch of the 4G LTE network?

 A: Verizon Wireless will cover 38 major metropolitan areas and more than 60 commercial airports. These include the following areas (see the HUVerizon Wireless 4G Web pageUH for further information):

•  Cities along the Northeast Corridor: from Boston to New York to Philadelphia to Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

•  Throughout Miami and four additional Florida cities

•  Chicagoland, St. Louis, the Twin Cities and major cities in Ohio

•  Major population centers in California, including San Diego, Los Angeles, Oakland, San Francisco and San Jose

Q: When will Verizon Wireless have 4G LTE in my community?

A: Following the initial deployment by the end of the year, Verizon Wireless expects continue with an equally aggressive growth plan which includes developing rural partnerships in places where we don’t have current 3G network coverage. By 2013, Verizon Wireless will have full nationwide coverage everywhere we have 3G coverage today.

 Q: Which airports are going to be covered by 4G LTE at launch?

A: In addition to the 38 major metropolitan areas, Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network will also be available in more than 60 airports coast to coast, giving our road warriors added coverage when they need it most. In order to provide a great customer experience, we have boosted in-building coverage at the airports covered by the initial launch. We expect to launch additional airports quickly, working with local airport authorities to provide in-building coverage.

Q: Will 4G LTE be available on Smartphones?

A: On 12/5/10, we will launch our new 4G LTE services on USB Modems for Mobile Broadband. Additional devices have not yet been announced. Visit www.verizonwireless.com/4g to sign up for updates.

Q: Will the 4G LTE USB Modem Require a SIM Card? Will a SIM from a different carrier (AT&T, etc.) work with my Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Service?

A: Yes, a Verizon Wireless SIM Card is required (note: there is no charge to our customers for the SIM). SIM Cards from other carriers will not work on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network.

Q: Will the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE USB Modems work with Mac Computers?

A: On 12/5/10, Macantonich Computers will not be supported. Mac support will come shortly after launch.

I live in a community that Verizon wireless currently does not have license for coverage. It is my understanding that the local provider is majority owned by Verizon. What will it take to lobby for Verizon to be a wireless provider within our community and offer the 3G/4G LTE services.

I currently have 5 "dumbphones" on my account, I want to replace two of them with "smartphones", however with lack of supported network it will never be an option.

As a family we spend about $2800.00 a year with our Verizon account. I have been a customer more than 10 years, I am happy with my experience with Verizon across the board. I don't want to switch providers yet I really have no choice.

We live in a global tourist community, with 1,000,000 plus annual visitors. Many of these visitors are Verizon customers that cannot benefit from the services they enjoy while in their own communities.

If there is any way to get this message to a Verizon "Coverage Committee" ,"Executive" ,"Board of Trustees", "CEO" . Please, Please, Please see that it gets in their hands.

No, the Verizon edition of the Iphone will be CDMA and Verizon only uses SIM cards in their global phones for international roaming.

Will the 4G plan cost the same as Sprint's? They have an unlimited everything plan between $69 a month plus taxes and they're offering a 23% monthly discount at my workplace since last year. It's very tempting. I know about the HTC thunderbolt, I've been a very happy Verizon customer for almost 6 years now, never had any problems with the service  but it seems that Sprint is offering the better deal. Is it the network or the NOW network in February 2011?

Everyone will know the cost when it is announced.  Sprint did just announce a $10/mo increase you may have seen.  Sprint has pursued the "value carrier" strategy which usually means you get less.  Whether that is a good deal for you is up to the individual. There future 4G strategy is in limbo as they may switch from WiMax to LTE; plenty of info is available on the internet.

 Is the same corporate discount not offered by Verizon?  I would think it should be and you would want to check to get it if not. That is usually done by your company.  I get about 20% on mine.  Compare everything including the coverage where you live and work and travel.  I read of a promo plan that was being tested in certain areas but don't know its current status.  You can read a lot more discussion on HowardForums.  

I'm like you, and have been a happy customer for a long time--and I need to address my bill also.  But moreso my usage rather than the plan itself.  I couldn't myself switch unless I was positive something was much, much better.  And I don't think there is such a thing for me (I went through the gauntlet with AT&T).

Don't understand why certain cities get the 4G capability. Before other cities. I'm in the military (Navy) and I'm located in Norfolk VA. I've been looking @ both Verizon and Sprints 4G coverage and neither has VA on the map. If either of these respective networks knew any better. That Norfolk is the largest Navel base in the WORLD. I don't think they know how much revenue their missing. The Hampton Roads area alone is comprised of the 7 cities from Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Hampton, Newport News and Virginia Beach. Add all those cities and the largest naval base in the WORLD. Its crazy that we are not even on the map though. Im just saying its like only certain states have the privilege of the 4G service. I think that's foolish how some states have like 3 or 4 cities that are compatible and VA doesn't have even 1.

I think it is a shame that only the larger cities like Minneapolis, MN and Denver, CO ect. have the 4G

services and not the smaller ones like Fargo, ND do not.

I think verizon should concentrate more on the service and expand 4G to the smaller communities

What is up with them cutting the trial period from 30 days to 15....THAT JUST NOT RIGHT

they gonna end up losing customers to someone like sprint or even T-Mobile who just changed

their unlimited plan to match sprints.

Will current LTE phones be able to handle voLTE when it comes out or will it require a new/different LTE radio?
