A quick Google search shows tons and tons of angry customers without 4G service that just aren't getting answers. I had to spend 45 minutes on the phone last night, first with a tech rep who thought I should just turn it on and off and remove the LTE sim card, before sending me to someone who knew what he was doing, that essentially did nothing but make me do the same thing, and then tell me he was alerting the "Network Team" -
Still nothing back, still no 4G service, but the worst part? Not a word from Verizon. No official announcements, not even on their own discussion forum? I get if they don't want to look bad for potential new customers but come on, you have how many thousands of people without service now and NO update? Going on 15+ hours since this started? That's ridiculous.

In Columbia SC... I just got a pantech breakout about a week ago. everything's been working fine until late last night/early this morning (around 2am EST) I noticed that I had no 4G or 3G... just the 1X... this morning, around 8am when my husband got up for classes, I noticed his phone (an old flippy job) only had 1X too, but he typically has 3G on it. We're both still without 4G/3G and my phone barely has a 1X signal to speak of...
I guess it's pointless to call Verizon and ask what's going on, judging by the responses here.

I'm getting spotty service here as well (Chicago, IL). No 4G. 3G seems to toggle between my phone and my wife's.

Dear Verizon -
You text me all the time for silly stuff...thanks for buying this and upgrading that. Here I sit in the Frozen Tundra simply awaiting my text or email from you explaining why my pricey little phone just cant access your network. I know you value my service because the customer service reps always tell me so. I searched through 100's of posts from other valued subscribers looking for a small little note like all the texts you send me to assure us you still do care; except I cant find one. Please tell me where to look, because I know you wouldn't leave me, your valued customer, in the dark.
Sincerely,
ReganRae

Out in Houston and do not tell me 3g and 1x still works, it does not. All I can do is send texts and make calls. This is bad folks. 3g just came back for the first time in hours.

You guys are humorous. It's like you can't live without data service. What did you people do before smart phones? Just chill out I am sure the service will be back soon.

Got my Motorolla Droid Razr on Saturday. No 3G or 4G service all the way home from work on the T here in Boston. Guess my new phone will get a break tonight. You think we will still get charged? You bet.

Well, my 4G is back up here in Boston. Now that I'm on WiFi of course. Go figure. Hey, stuff happenes. I couldn't begin to tell you how they are able to give me 25Mb/s to a cell phone to begin with, so who am I to judge. But Boston had no 3 and 4G service around rush hour.

Verizon is pathetic. You call and they can't tell you anything. They never issue credits unless you call after service is restored yet they know which customers are affected. These outages are getting more and more frequent. I think this is the 4th one I've heard of in the last few months, tho the others were resolved in a few hours so perhaps people didn't notice as much (other than the one over the summer that was almost a week). I hope AT&T hurries with their 4G LTE deployment so customers can switch. Verizon should be ashamed and customers should take Verizons poor service into consideration when chosing devices and a network for holiday gifts. Pick another carrier if you want quality service.

HTC Thunderbolt fix (which allows for solid 3G during LTE outage). You will need to undo these settings once 4G LTE service is restored. These changes make your phone appear and operate like a 3G only device, which is completely unaffected by the outage.
1 – Menu, settings, Wireless and Networks
2 – Mobile Networks, Network Mode
3 – CDMA only
4 – Back out of menus until you get to your home screen (or
hit home button).
5 - Go to the
ThunderBolt’s phone dialer. Enter ##778# and hit Send.
6- You’ll get a pop-up
labeled EPST, with the choice to “View Mode” or “Edit Mode.” You want “Edit
Mode.”
7- You’ll be asked for
a password. It’s 000000.
8- Now flip down to “Modem
Settings,” and then choose “Rev. A.”
9- Change the Rev A setting from "eHRPD" to “Enable,” hit OK, and then press the Menu button on the phone and tap
“Commit Modifications.” Phone will reboot and should be ok.
