A quick Google search shows tons and tons of angry customers without 4G service that just aren't getting answers. I had to spend 45 minutes on the phone last night, first with a tech rep who thought I should just turn it on and off and remove the LTE sim card, before sending me to someone who knew what he was doing, that essentially did nothing but make me do the same thing, and then tell me he was alerting the "Network Team" -
Still nothing back, still no 4G service, but the worst part? Not a word from Verizon. No official announcements, not even on their own discussion forum? I get if they don't want to look bad for potential new customers but come on, you have how many thousands of people without service now and NO update? Going on 15+ hours since this started? That's ridiculous.

I'm only one of the very very many that is **bleep** i can't use my phone and service for what I'm paying for!!! Thanks for nothing.

I'm in Boston.
My problem started yesterday with an Sims card authentication issue, telling me to call a service rep.
If there was a problem prior to that, I was not aware.
Anyway, I called, the rep told me there was a nationwide outage, and that he wasn't speaking officially but he thought it was a server issue.
Yesterday I had service, but no 4G (no Gs at all).
Today the Sims card message is gone, 4G is showing, but no service.
From what I am to understand, this began the night before last (Dec 6).
I've had my Droid for exactly two weeks.
Every **bleep** day it's something with technology that bolloxes me up for way longer than I have time for.

Seems plausible. With the people reporting SIM activation issues... Plus, yesterday my girlfriend's Bionic had no data at all, but my OG Droid had 3G right next to her. I set her Bionic to 3G only and still no data services for her, but I had not interruptions at all on the OG Droid.
I'm more inclined to think it's some sort of a software problem with a server somewhere that is validating/authorizing 4G SIM info.

4G seems to be back up in Pittsburgh, though I had to toggle airplane mode to get it to switch. During the outage when I did that the phone would drop back down to 3G after about a minute, but going on 5 minutes now with 4G active. Keeping my fingers crossed...

No service at all (no 4G, 3G, 1X, voice) using a Droid Razr in College Park, MD (DC suburbs) since around 4 PM Tuesday. Had the red X at first but now no error message, just no service.
Have re-seated the SIM card, switched to CDMA only, restarted multiple times. No dice.
WiFi connects but that's it.

Back up in Boston since this morning - hope the rest of you aren't far behind. Still no official company announcement - laughable. I hope all of you called and called and called their customer service reps and gave them hell because this was ridiculous. And where's that guy who was supposed to call me back once the problem was fixed?

I also use a Driod Bionic and for the past two days (since Tuesday, 12/6) have not been getting any 4G service, and only a few seconds here and there of 3G. Right now, I just have one bar -- no 3G, no 4G-- at my desk where I normally have a strong 4G connection.
I'm extrememly unhappy. I stick with Verizon because of their great phone selection and excellent service (not customer service, mind you-- but I normally don't need that), so this is really angering me. The fact that I have not recieved an email with any expalation abotu what is happening, why, and what they're doing to fix it is nuts. I have forked over many, many dollars to verizon over teh years, and touted the great voice and data service to my friends. I won't do that any more if this doesn't get resolved soon-- and I expect a public statement from Verizon that respects me as a customer and an intelligent human being. I'm not holding my breath, but I really don't think it's too much to ask.

I'm also having the same problem with my Bionic and I just switched to Verizon in November after being with AT&T for over 15 years. Not a happy (new) customer. As of today at 1:20 pm CST, I still have no 4G service and I'm located in the Southeast.

In Virginia Beach, still no 4G and only occasional 3G for a few seconds. You would think "The Most Reliable Network" would want to do better than leave all their customers completely in the dark. Maybe the should change their theme to "When It Sometimes Works Ii is Good".

My new 4G Samsung Stratosphere arrived today and would not activate for first usage. After 6 tries of restarting, I took it to my Verizon Store. It was there I learned that the 4G network is down nationwide and that a 4G phone cannot be activated while the network is down. So sorry. Try again later... GRRRRR!!!

Still no 4G or 3G for me in Columbia SC. I have a pantech breakout and haven't gotten any errors. Still get phone calls and texts just fine... Can only do online tasks (email, facebook, etc) via wi-fi. I really wish they'd come out with something other than "it's broken and we're working on fixing it"
according to this they fixed it already: http://www.eweek.com/c/a/Mobile-and-Wireless/Verizon-Wireless-4G-LTE-Network-Sees-Nationwide-Outage-...
my signal-less phone begs to differ.

I'm in the DC metro area, and I Came into work this morning and had 4G. When I woke up around 5am the 4G was spotty; bouncing back and forth from 3G to 4G. Hopefully Verizon will make a official announcement about what went wrong.

Official announcement? No way, not in this competitive market. They're going to bury it and hope that enough customers won't go telling their friends NOT to get new 4G service based on a few outages, that's about it. Let's be serious.

Indianapolis - 4G was mostly not working last night within the city. At work this morning, it seems to be working. In the Western suburbs, where I live, there is only 3G coverage, and my phone was not able to receive any data whatsoever. Same was true this morning. No data at home, but working 4G at my job.

I had problems with my service last night dropping off completely. That is the reason I just signed up for the "Community". I had problems with my Thunderbolt and I am now on my third one since October. The "Updates" they were pushing down "Bricked"
my first 2. The last one I got sent to me finally had Version 2.3.4 on it and seems to be working but the problem I have is I am in the extended area for 4G. I mostly get 3G at home but it will bounce back and forth between the two. It has messed up the radio and I have had to do a factory reset 4 times. This costs me data and money as I have to run the backup and re-download some of my apps. I found their tech's lack thorough knowledge and had to do some research myself to figure out what was happening.

South SF Bay Area - lost 3G/4G yesterday around 11:30 am, but this morning I have continuous 4G where I live which was previously only 3G coverage. In general, my data coverage is better than it was yesterday morning. I'm wondering if they are doing some sort of system upgrade and just failed to notify anybody?

I hope Verizon doesn't do any customer satisfaction surveys anytime soon.
I have the sim activation problem on my phone since Tuesday. Went to the store and sales people advised they were having problem with their 4g phones. Called up tech support and they told me there was no problem with 4g. Take out the sim and reinstall. Works for about an hour then goes back to sim error.
Went back to the store and they replaced the sim, then they could not get the new sim card to activate any service. Finally activated 4 hours later. While the salesmen was on the phone asking what the problem was activating the new sim, tech support yelled at him for putting in a new sim card and told him it was a problem with the 4g.
The biggest problem with Verizon now is they no longer have any tech support in their stores. If you have a problem with your phone they just want to give you a new one.
I wonder if Verizon plans on compensating the people that pay for these high priced 4g phones and are not getting 3g service. I find it hard to believe that this problem has not been resolved yet
