4G Still An Issue

I have been "working" with Verizon since Oct to eliminate issues with my 4G air card.  We have replaced devices twice, have replaced the sim card.  I had no problems with 3G.  Verizon was kind to explain to me that I could go back to 3G and pay a higher monthly fee. When I'm in email - it freezes at 5 min, 45 min or when vz manager says dormant.  One person said it was my pc.  Odd I had no issues till the change to 4G.  If I go to my local sales store - can they help me better than the 4G "specialist" at the 800#.  And just when I was ready to submit this - site froze up.  had to close down and come back in.  Thank you

Chances are that the average sales rep at a store will not be as good of a resource as the folks on the 800# for technical problems.  A sales rep's job is to sell devices, not support them.  Thier exposure to technical problems is limited to what has been brought into thier store.  Sure, you could happen to walk up to superman who fixes everything, but you cant count on that happening everytime.

Where the store folks have an advantage is swapping out parts or devices under warranty.  Show them the defect and they can act quickly.  Many times you can walk out of the store with your new part where as the 800# will have to ship it from somewhere... after conducting the entire course of troubleshooting steps.  If your problem is not easy to reproduce then save your gas money.

It sounds like you have already recieved several new parts and devices so I wouldn't expect a sales rep to be of any more use to you. My advice is to stick to the 4G specialists that you have been working with.  The forums can also be a great resource too if you dont mind sharing a little more info with us.

trishi88,

I apologize for the inconvenience the 4G device has caused. It sounds like our technical team has done a large amount of troubleshooting, including replacing the phone. I would like to review your account and the network area for you to ensure we cover all our bases and make sure this gets working properly. Please PM directly for I can assist further.

Thank you!

Best of luck with your problem, however please keep in mind this problem has existed since December 2010 and hasn't had any progress yet.

4G is still in beta testing mode, understand that any new technology that appears on the market will have bugs, quarks and issues the first couple of years.  With that said the only thing you can do is keep cotacting VZW and make sure a trouble ticket is open so they are aware of the bugs, quarks, or issues that are coming up.

Huh?  "Beta Testing Mode"?  It's a commercial, production product.  I have absolutely no idea where the idea that it's still in beta comes from - other perhaps than the idea that it has obviously not been sufficiently tested prior to general release.

True 4G is still in development.

What we have today is 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution), which is a transition technology.  Most people assume when we speak of 4G that we are referring to the current LTE technology, but its still easy to mix the two up.  When true 4G is ready all of the LTE signals will be upgraded automatically and seemlessly.  Atleast that is what we have been lead to believe up until now.  LTE allows Verizon to use the new infrastructure as they deploy and install it around the nation.

John, I agree with you and understand.  My confusion remains however that the quote I was responding to seemed to be insinuating that VZ should sort of get a pass on "early adopter technology" partially because 4G LTE is "still in Beta".  True that LTE is not in fact full true "4G".  However, it is not true that this product is still in "Beta".  It is in fact GA, full production.  We can (easily) make the argument that it isn't ready, that it was not properly tested, that there are design flaws, that support is insufficient and/or ineffective - but not that it is Beta.
