4G What a JOKE!!!

Somebody help me understand what Verizon was thinking? They advertise do more faster with 4g. Download HD video and large files 10 times faster!! IT SHOULD READ HIT YOUR CAP 10 FASTER!!!! That's like GM selling you a new Corvette with the speed limiter set at 30mph!! What's the point!!?? If Verizon's LTE network is so great why do they need to cap it!!? Can't handle the load? I think the answer is Clear!!!!

Nope, their LTE Network will have capacity, capping on 4G can serve one purpose only, and that is generating REVENUE. It's all about the MONEY man, and everything else is irrelavant. Where they will make their money on this is in those extra $10/gig overages they hope to pull in with people blasting through 5 and 10 gig caps in a matter of days.

I read somewhere that a research firm found that although 5 gig caps actually did help alleviate congestion on 3G eetworks to some extent, such caps will not be needed for network management on 4G. And verizon has always been about offering the minimal value for the maximal dollar amount they can get away with, and they even admit they are "testing" data plan prices even now to play the same game. Those prices will most likely see changes as next year progresses.

I agree... it is an almost LAUGHABLE joke.  The common sense in this is absolutely irrational unless it's all about the $$$.  Check out the Clavin post below I started on this very thing.

A laughable joke perhaps, but just who is doing the laughing. Not me. Who is? The CEO, CTO, CFO, COO, and all the rest of the execs in those exclusive three-letter Corporate fraternities, all the way to the bank. And for what? Stingy data caps, usurous prices and "managed" (read: restricted) service by way of limited access to internet resources. Right now, Verizon's proactive blocking of IRC servers is a particularly bad thorn in my side. Discriminatory device pricing on cheaper data plans is anotehr. Can get  $35 3Gig plan on a tablet but not on a netbook or modem. Why?? Tethering a phone is a function,, not a service. But they upsell it as a feature. All about the money indeed. Laughable joke? Pathetic is more like it. As for me, fourgee,schmorgee, I'm ETF'ing out of this farce of predatory profiteering.

I posted a comparison with Verizon's rates vs. Sprint's and the Verizon groupies got all over me, super defensive... and that was just comparing their 3g services... where Sprint was basically $30 cheaper for the identical plan.  Spring 4G is $79 TOTAL; 450 minutes, unlimited text and data.  No overages except for voice, if you go over.  I've had AT&T before and they were terrible... but Verizon isn't anything to write home about.  We're supposed to be happy that a company can maintain a call without it being dropped?  I'm just not sure how reliable Sprint is, in comparison. 

Verizon wants to gouge us with $50/month for 5gb data or $80 10gb data ON TOP of our insane rates... LOL!!!  when's enough enough!?   

I keep telling myself that it's gonna get better and to stick with Verizon but I can't see why anymore.  No wonder they were so **bleep** secretive with any 4G detail.

When it comes to 4G sprint will have all these other companies beat. Sprints capacity for it's customer on their network is larger (and always will be) than AT&Ts and Verizons that's why they don't have to cap.

The funniest thing I've seen with this "4G battle" crap is when AT&T put 4G at the end of the title for the new iphone to attract customers.

Working on the inside, I can tell you guys it's ALL the same when it comes to international rates, but as far as domestic plans... Sprint has all the competition beat. It doesn't make sense for someone to be with another carrier if they have sprint service in their area. Especially 3G or 4G service.

Sprint will bury verizon, unless corporate gets their head out of the sand!  I am a Sprint customer and pay $59.99/ mo  which covers 3G/5GB  and 4G/unlimited, for no extra cost.  What is verizon thinking.  Do they think there are that many morons out there?  Maybe they do.  I'll take Sprint 6 to 10Mbs 4G unlimited, over Verizon's LTE 5GB/mo, any day!

I would strongly suggest you read your contract.  Your 4G is capped as well since Sprint will throttle you once you hit that 5GB mark.
