I'm not the one who is suggesting that people use Verizon's 4G to download HD movies!  VERIZON IS!!!!   You may be smart enough to figure out that downloading HD movies is a totally ridiculous idea, but most people are not and will get suckered in.

The following link is the "what can I do with it" selection in Verizon's website for their new 4G LTE.  Not only are they suggesting people download movies, but it's the very first thing they mention!  They even say full-length HD quality movies.

http://network4g.verizonwireless.com/#/capabilities

Here's exactly what it says in the link:

"Into movies?  Stream your favorite director's cut without annoying buffering.  Or better yet, download and view full-length HD quality movies."

Talk about false and misleading advertising!

I understand why the limits are there, but I think that Verizon is not being truthful when they tell people what they can do with 4G.  Who wants do business with someone who lies to you to get you to buy their product.

Does it say anything about unlimited 4G data?  Can customers use it to download or stream full-length HD movies?  Please indicate for me where the false and misleading advertising is.  Are you brand new to marketing strategies that sell the sizzle?  At the end of the day, I don't feel I'm missing the point at all.  Verizon invested billions to build and develop a 4G network.  They have priced access to that network at this point as either $50  for 5GB or $80 for 10 GB.  The 4G is roughly 10 times faster than 3G and will use the same amount of data as anything you did with 3G, it will just do it faster.

So you are saying that if you had purchased Verizon's 4G product to download or stream full-length HD movies that you would be a happy camper?  If you answer no, then you have figured out where the false and misleading advertising is.

If the question of whether or not this was false or misleading advertising ever got into a court,  the case would not be decided by whether a customer was happy with his purchase or not. It would be decided by whether the statement was true or false.

So, is the statement that you can download or stream full-length HD movies true or false? This question can be answered either yes it's true, or no it's false.

The answer is Yes it's true.  That concludes this lesson on what is/isn't misleading advertising!

The statement is in no way false... might be slightly misleading depending on how it is said :smileytongue:. As it is you can certainly download a HD movie without going over the allowance of 10GB... and you can certainly watch more if you don't mind paying some overage (which is a much better deal than what the overage used to be).

In all fairness, though, it is ludicrous to imply someone is going to pay $80 to download one HD movie. I think their advertising would be better if it talked about the real-world benefits of 4G over 3G and Verizon's network over the competition.

Where is the false advertising? Take dollars and cents out of the picture.

In this world these days it's all about what  company A can do for you and how they can do it better than company B. What they said is basically a statement to what you can do with thier 4G network. Do you think they are not going to announce that you can download movies on the new 4G network? Then people will be wondering why you can't. They did not say it would cost you this much or that much. Companies are not responsible for how we interprete things. It is responsibility to be an informed, educated customer.

Let's look at a company that sales high end sports cars. You watch a commercial about how fast it is 0-60, Top speed, etc. Do you see or hear anything about them telling us how much it's going to cost you to go 0 -60 in 4.2 seconds? Of course not. It's our decision if we want to drive that car, at those speeds with what gas costs. Too a great many people, it doesn't matter. Those are the one's that they are after, not the one's making 60K a year.

There are a millions of subscribers on everyone's network that have business accounts and do not care, I should not use that word, they don't have to take into consideration about how much it's going to cost me. This is my job and I can't do my job without a Broadband service. That's who Verizon wants as well, as does Sprint, AT&T, etc.  There are so so many of customers who could give 2 cents about there bill being $300.00 bucks each month.

I by no means think Verizon is perfect. I have used alot of providers, believe me. I honestly thing Sprint is the one that tries to get you every chance they get. Just wait till you start recieveing there bills each month.

You have to look at what Verizon is doing from both sides is what I am trying to say.

Why do you gys have to get me so worked up so early!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the thing, folks.  4G is a great thing.  LTE is said to be the fastest "4G" tech available, and also have the best in-building penetration.  Having faster speeds will allow you to do things faster when using the internet.  However, because it has a cap, then it is your responsibility to monitor your usage, just as you do with a voice plan that is not unlimited.  This is NOT something to complain about.  Faster speeds doesn't equal more data usage, faster speeds equal faster speeds.  More data usage comes from deciding that I'm gonna do more since my data is faster.  That is a choice, but since you already know that you have a limit, then you need to monitor that.

The other thing is this.  Since we know that VZW 4G has a cap, don't buy it if you want unlimited service.  I don't think VZW expects you to leave your home broadband service for their capped service, unless you are a very light user, or unless you just want to you the VZW 4G to "compliment", or in conjunction with your home service.  To think otherwise would be unreasonable.

This is really nothing to be upset about at all.  I could care less about the "cap".  I just won't get the service, and be happy with my Comcast service at home, which is less expensive anyway.  If VZW decides to offer an unlimited service, or at least rival the amount offered by Comcast, and other providers at a reasonable rate, then I will consider that.

Brian, you hit the nail on the head. You got across what I was trying to explain much better in my opinion.

We all have a choice, be thankful for that.

Yes, Brian, best answer I have seen; very well put.  But it just occurred to me that WiFi is also a consideration as discussed in other posts which makes the caps less salient to the discussion.  This has been totally ignored in all the complaints. For me, I've always had the same caps on 3g so the 4g caps are not NEW and you are right--don't change anything.  Hate to see it, but ithe internet "press", that's all they talk about.  So you see where they come from.  Short-sighted fear-mongering.

Yep, Steve, that is all that they talk about, but it doesn't even make sense.  Just love to complain.
