4G for mac

Does anyone have any idea when Verizon 4g will be supporting mac OS?  Or does anyone know how to get connected with 4g using a mac?

Currently, VZ Access manager for 4G modems does not support Mac OS.  The place to keep checking is www.vzam.net this is the software upgrade page for VZ Access manager.  If I see it become available, I'll let you know.

I'm waiting for the same thing. I went to the store yesterday and bought the new LG card. I talked to the salesperson all during the transaction about the fact that I use Mac's. He told me all about the recent training they did with regard to the new 4G service. I got home and tried to get online and couldn't. I looked online (using my iPad 3G) and immediately started seeing reviews that mentioned that Mac's aren't supported yet. I called the store back and the salesman called tech support and called me back. He told me they told him to check the main Verizon wireless site everyday for a message about the new Mac "driver". In the meantime, he re-activated my MiFi so that I can continue to stay online. Very inconvenient. Seems like something that should have been worked out ahead of the launch . Mac's account for a much larger percent of the market than they used to.

Will I really need to use the Verizon software?

Thanks, I will keep checking VZAM.  Hopefully it will come soon, I had been watching the 4g progress all summer and when I found out the exact date of the release I was ready to order one, then I found out the lack of mac support, bummer.

Since the only 4G devices available right now are USB sticks, yes you will need to use the VZ Access manager software to connect to the internet.

End of the month, Q1 '2011 at the latest for the drivers. If you have a dual-boot Mac machine you can use Windows and then install the MAC drivers when the drivers come out on www.vzam.net soon.

AT&T and T-Mobile wifi hot spots support Macs. I have written Verizon several times in the past year, and have gotten the same response, they are working on it. Now we have the same problem with 4G. Mac owners are now paying $20.00 a month for services they cannot use because Verizon discriminates against Mac. Is it time for Mac users to file a class action suit against Verizon. Unfortunately it appears this is the only way Mac owners will be able to resolve this problem, Verizon listens to there pocket book before there customers!.

First off, the MIFI does support MAC.  Secondly, please let me know the basis of your suit.  Show me the law that says Verizon is required or obligated to provide service to MAC.  Verizon wireless whether you like it or not is not a utility company and is not reguated as one.  Wireless service is not treated the same as electric, heat, gas, water etc.  You have no claim since Verizon has no obligation.  It is that simple. 

Incidentally, the hold up on MAC support for 4G is on the Apple side of the equation, not the Verizon side (just like it was for the MIFI device)

You are correct, Verizon can offer what ever products and services they want to. However this situation is different. Over one year ago they added WIFI hotspots for there present customers which include approximately 10% Mac owners. Therefore they are obligated to provide the service to there entire customer base. In America, it has been quite sometime that the minority has had to sit in the back of the bus.

Hi all, you don't need vzaccess manager to connect your device to mac.  You can connect the device directly through network preferences.

Plug in device, go to network preferences (a box telling you there is no profile for the device should appear, click network preferences)

If its not already selected, select the device from the left (you should see Pantech ULM290), and apply the following settings:

General Device Settings-

Phone Number: PhoneNumber

Account name: PhoneNumber@vzw4g.com

Password: vzw

Advanced Settings-

Carrier: Generic

Model: GPRS (GSM/3G)

APN: vzwinternet

CID: 1

Click OK, then connect and enjoy.
