When I try to use it with the Mac after following the setup, I get a "no phone service detected., Check your phone line and try reconnecting." error.
I am able to use it fine from Windows. I am not in a 4G area at the moment though. Does your setup allow fallback to 3G?

The 4G and 3G authentication schemes are different. Make sure you are in a 4g area.
I was able to get mine working by activating it on a windows machine, then inserting it into my MacBook Pro. I installed the VZAccess software, rebooted, plugged out the card and put it in again.
The VZAccess software popped up and asked me to activate the device, I put in 0000000000 as the phone number, and presto!! Up it came.
I haven't got 4G coverage here so I don't know if that is working, but it certainly connects over one of the networks.

This works great. The only thing I had to change though was the phone number. The phone number for me had to be #777.

I think we can all agree that in 18 months, Verizon could have produced the software that would have enabled Mac users to access there WIFI. Therefore is this Bait and Switch on Verizon's part , by telling Mac owners that they are working on it when they are actually not ?. What about having a operating system Bill of Rights, that simply requirers internet providers to provide the same services to all the operating systems, Windows, Mac, Linux, and the new Chrome OS, allowing the consumer decide which operating system they want to use, instead of it being dictated by the internet provider. ( 4G & WIFI, Windows Only).
We the consumer have to be vigilant with large companies like Verizon, remembering the lessons we have learned with the current recession. Remember World Com. What about the recent Twenty One Million dollar court settlement against Verizon for over charging its customers. Now we are getting the same response from Verizon for 4G for Mac. We the consumer need to make our voices heard !!.
Manually connecting to 4G with a Mac overwrites data on your SIM card, making it not compatible with VZAccess Manager for Windows so if you ever want to use it on a Windows computer you'll get a WMC604 error, so I wouldn't recommend doing this right now.
i uninstalled and installed vzam in windows/fusion and that got rid of my 604 error. don't know if i've tried connecting since then with osx though.

Mac owners have been waiting 18 plus months for WIFI hotspots to be included in VZ access manager. Soon Verizon will be selling the I Phone with Face Time requiring a WIFI Hot Spot to work. Apple customers will no longer be a small minority that you can ignore. FCC Net Neutrality for wired internet customers, refers to all operating systems should be treated equally. I am sure debate will follow this issue, however, why not go ahead and make WIFI hot spots available to your Mac customers to avoid a legal debate. AT&T Apple customers presently have complete access to there WIFI Hotspots. Imagine what a commercial would look like. FACETIME, AT&T VS VERIZON. Presently AT&T WIFI Hotspots supports all Apple products, Verizon WIFI Hotspots does not support any Apple Products. Verizon wake up.
