Correct Answer: Activating 4G Phones in a 1XRTT area

Is it true that you cannot activate a 4G phone in a 1XRTT market???? Is was told by an associate at a Authorized agent location that I must drive to a EVDO supported area to activate the phone!!!! Any info would be appreciated.

It might activate, but at the same time it might not activate fully. As in, all the provisioning for your line might not be able to be fully applied while in 1xRTT areas. Your data connection might not work properly when you are in 3G or 4G LTE areas. Voice should work.

I know for extended network areas a person can't fully program a 3G EDVO phone while there and the phone has to be programmed in native EDVO signal network. The 4G LTE devices might be similar in that respect.

Is it native Verizon 1xRTT or Extended 1xRTT? It will make a difference.
