Will the Droid 4 be a global phone? I need a 4G phone that will work on Verizon in USA and also in Germany. Is there such a phone yet/soon? Thanks!
They told me it should work.
I am attempting the same thing. You just need to enable the global plan at the Verzion store before you go.
You will need to pay the minutes on top of you plan and super-extra for data !
I might switch mine to wifi only !
I'm replying so other Droid 4 owners see this -- the answer is, it depends on the country you want to use it in. It's possible to use the Droid 4 in countries with wireless networks built on CMDA. If you're planning to travel overseas, it's really important to investigate before you go and not just rely on what the Verizon Wireless Store employees tell you. I know because I did and ended up with a Droid 4 that the store employees assured me would work where I was going -- Sweden -- but it doesn't, except to connect with the Internet via Wi-Fi. The Verizon website has a lot of good info on this - find the International section and use the "Trip Planning Guide."
The DROID 4 will also be global ready once it receives the ICS update and therefore access to the GSM radios for international travel.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
Not quite. Those are two different updates. The update to global capability is supposed to come to the Droid 4 "this summer". The ICS (Android 4.0) update is scheduled for sometime in the third quarter, last I heard.

Really? From what I have heard with the Razr etc, ICS update is enough. And many people report GSM success after installing ICS on the Droid 4
Well, the official word from Verizon was that the global capability would be added first, then ICS would come later. Whether they follow up on that is anyone's guess.
How would one go about putting ICS on the Droid 4 without an update from Verizon? I thought the bootloader was locked.

I have jelly bean on my Verizon GSIII if that says anything.
Not really. The GSIII is a Samsung device. The Motorola devices, such as the Droid 4, have the locked bootloaders (or so I thought).

Not allowed to answer that here!
