Early Termination for 1 of 4 lines Or move to another carrier?

I currently have 4 lines of service. 3 are smartphones and 1 is a basic phone.

My son has moved out of the country and cannot use Verizon where he lives now. His smartphone contract end date is not until June 2015...approx 1 year

My smartphone contract end date has already passed.

Is there any way I can get rid of his line without any ETFs?

I would be willing to change some phone numbers around. Or possibly get rid of the basic phone (contract also ends in June of next year) and keep the additional smartphone.

So therefore I would maintain 3 smartphones instead of 2 smartphones and 1 basic phone. But, this would have to be done without the ETF for 1 line.

My only other option would be to move service to another company that would pay my ETFs for all 3 lines to transfer, (and their plan is less expensive) but

I would like to stay with Verizon.  It doesn't look like it would be cost effective for me for me to stay, but I wanted to see if there were any other options before I left Verizon.

Thanks so much for reaching out to us, toohot4thezoo. The last thing we want to do is have you go to a different company so we are glad to come up with ways to keep you with us.
Congratulations on your son's new adventures in another country.  Do we know how much his single line is? Can you think of anyone that would want to take over that line by completing an assumption of liability? http://vz.to/1t3pdK7
This will eliminate any early termination fees on your end.

If you don't mind changing your number, then take over his line, activate your phone on that line, then cancel yours.  If your line is the only one out of contract, that would be the most cost effective IF you want to stay with Verizon.  If you can get cheaper service that meets your needs and get your ETFs covered, I guess that's what I would do.  I've heard it can be tricky getting the new provider to pay the ETFs, but if you read the fine print and go in with your eyes open, you should have no problem.  Smiley Happy
