FCC vs Verizon Unlimited Data

I've noticed all the loop holes are drying up. My last upgrade I was informed that if you use your upgrade on the unlimited line to transfer to non-unlimited line then transfer it will automatically create a loss of unlimited data and you are required to pay full price or other means (private sale). I live in a rural location with strong 4G LTE 20-40mbps down 10-12 up. No upgraded phone systems to DSL is out of the question and Cable is no where near. Only option is my unlimited data and Hughes net. Well Hughes net has a latency of 1.2 seconds!!! Now to my question and in regards of FCC ruling. If I take my unlimited data sim and buy a Verizon Novatel 4G sim router with voice and use it without making any changes to my plan, will I forfeit my unlimited data? I've been a customer since 2001.... Never late on payment... I'm tired of the BS! I've paid my years of service and deserve unlimited for life.

Nope there is a difference which the FCC agreed upon. It's all based on grandfathered policies. There was a difference policy for phones and for hotspots. Due to those difference you have to agree with the policies. If you switch you agree with the policy change. They are not FORCING you to do it. You did it on your own accord. Just like when you upgrade and agree to the new terms and lose your unlimited data. You can bring it up with the FCC and many have. FCC to date since the rules went into effect have not investigated and people have lost their unlimited data plans doing what you think about doing.

Best to do what others have done and there's a forum out there but can't post it here or it'll be deleted. Keep your phone and hotspot from your phone.

How so when the FCC rules that Verizon couldn't implement what users could do with their 4G LTE SIM cards? As in transferring them to any device capable of running on Verizon's 4G LTE network.

Quoted from:  Unlimited Data and the FCC

Changing between like devices(smartphone to smartphone) would not force you to change your data plan. Changing between differing devices(smartphone to tablet) (or in this case router/hotspot) which are eligible for differing data plans WOULD.

Well then after 15 years I guess Verizon will lose 295.00 a month from a loyal paying customer.

SO let me get this straight.   You are going to give up your unlimited plan that you pay $3,500 a year for, rather than spend $300-$1000 on a full price new phone?

You said you live in a rural area with no other high speed data options.  What now?  Move?

(FYI, if you expect sympathy from 19 year customer with 8 lines and pays for my data, no unlimited, and pays full price for my phones, I refuse to finance, it isn't going to happen.  I suspect no one else thinks you deserve a free ride either)

Wait, given the subject of your other posts, which are now missing, I assume you also hotspot other devices from your phone.  Now, IDK, there were some unlimited 4G plans that allowed that, but for the most part, unlimited 3G plans do not allow that.  I waon't assume you are tethering any devices or that, that is why you need to keep unlimited given your Hughes service.

I Assumed he was cabling.  But any kind of tethering is usually grounds for termination of service.

Some agreements allowed unlimited hotspot.  Some only allowed one device to use the network, ie...the phone itself.  One might bluetooth, hotspot, or USB tether, but if against the TOS, termination is very possible.  Verizon knows what type of app is accessing the network, I'm sure you already know.  I know some apps try to cover the use by changing the "source of request" from desktop to Android, and usually there are 3 layers and the app can choose how many layers to use or remove, but hiding usually impairs the function of a website, such as accessing from a PC through Android, the website may not load correctly on the PC. Blah blah, it's a risk.

Ive been using jailbroken and tethering for years.. Never had an issue. I've had months where I used over 120GB of data. Not one email, not one call..... So I'm not quite sure where you're going with theses TOS.. And for the stupid one who gave up their unlimited data. That's on you. I have 4 lines and two have unlimited. I will never give up unlimited data. Not until I see cable internet or DSL available in my location.

When that day comes where they won't allow unlimited data at all. That's when they will lose a customer

That'll probably be the day when all carriers no longer offer unlimited.  Sprint, and T-Mobile already went on record they will not have it for much longer.  T-Mobile has never promised unlimited data for life.  Sprint did, BUT you can't miss a payment and a few other caveats, and they even said at some point in time they will no longer offer unlimited at all.  So if you ever going to switch you'd need to do it soon. I speculate around 2017-2018 will be when all carriers will no longer offer unlimited.

T-Mobile has already announced the end of the unlimited data promotion.

New T-Mobile family plan offers four lines, each with 10GB of data, for $120 » TmoNews

No date for the start of this plan and end of the unlimited plan, but I would expect the end of the month.

Already started, but they still offer the $100 unlimited everything plan (Text, Data, calling).  This plan however is only guaranteed for 2 years at that price since it comes with unlimited data(no throttle).  So eventually it'll die out.

And they still are offering Verizon customers a trial.  It hasn't been as productive as they hoped.

Well, remember, if you aren't under contract....then they don't have to provide you any service, even if you are a paid user.  But, good job getting on Verizon's radar with those last few posts.

Considering how you are using, and abusing the unlimited data for the last 5 years, which would cost thousands if billed at the current rates.  Suck it up, enjoy it while you can, shell out for a Full price phone like every other customer who is hanging onto an unlimited plan, and for goodness sakes keep quiet about it.

IT is written into your TOS that Verizon can terminate your account if you are tethering.

This is a false name and using an IP spoof, yeah. I'm not worried. I'm not worried about buying a phone out right either. My simple thing was transferring a sim to a router. Like I said, I live in a rural area with my 4G LTE and Hughes net as the only option. Not sure if any of you used Hughes net before. But it's crap.

T-Mobile and Sprint are going under. Only two cellular companies worth having are Verizon & AT&T.

Ok first of all no cell company offers unlimited tethering so where are you going to go? Sprint and T-Mobile offer unlimited data ON THE PHONE. Tethering/hotspot is very limited. Sprint it's 6 GB max and T-Mobile goes up to 13 GB.

Second just because you CHOOSE to live where there isn't cable or DSL doesn't mean Verizon Wireless should provide you with unlimited data. Wireless is not meant to be a substitute for that. And it couldn't be that now even if it wanted to be. Also most cable and DSL ISPs do have data caps. They're in the 250-300 GB range which is pretty high, but it's still a cap and thus not unlimited. Somehow a wireless company is supposed to provide something better than wired? Yes latency on Hughesnet stinks because the signal is going to SPACE and back. Unless someone discovers how to send a signal faster than the speed of light that will always be an issue.

Listen I feel for you I think at least 99% of the population should have access to wired broadband( 25 Mbps as the FCC currently calls it ). But that's not the way it is and it won't change anytime soon. So if internet is that important you need to move to where it is. It's called CHOICES we all have to make this in life. You say you feel entitled to unlimited data? Um no you're not. You sound like a millennial that expects everything because they exist.
