Galaxy Nexus: No 4G signal After Update to Android 4.02

I purchased a Galaxy Nexus today, connected to 4G, downloaded ap's and used the phone on 4G for approximately an hour today with no issues. I was then altered to an update for Android 4.02.

After completing the update, I am no longer able to get 4G in most places. When I can get 4G, it is very weak.

For comparison, in the same spot, a Rezound will get 4 bars of 4G and the Galaxy Nexus will not connect to 4G (just 3G). I have confirmed this behavior on both of the Galaxy Nexus' purchased by our company.

Has anyone else seen this behavior with the 4.02 update? I have tried rebooting the phone as well as a hard reset, no luck. An hour on the phone with a Verizon 4G specialist with no luck.

Help.

Rezound: -61 dBm LTE

Same problem, 4G does not work at all for me, and I would lose ALL data and voice about every 5 minutes. Very frustrating.. I have switched it to 3G and I am not having problems, but I PAID for a 4G phone, I expect it to work. Someone said it may have to do with all the activations today?

As others I am in the same boat. Picked up the Nexus after I got off work yesterday. Original downloads were quick as the phone was synching and installing my apps and gmail account. Once that was done the rep installed the extended battery and booted the phone and then from what I can tell, installed the update since while I was leaving the store (corporate store) it rebooted. I did not pay much attention as I was headed to another job. Got there and was on wifi and then wifi when I got home. Came to work today and was looking at my connection, which has been great before on my Bionic for both 3G and 4G and have a very weak 3g running at 117-120 dBm and no 4G at all. I will be going into town for a Dr's appt adn will see how it is there (still a stong 4G area). More than likely will be going back to the VZW corp store and see what they have to say.

I too am having the same issue. Soft reset did not fix. There's a rather large thread open for it on droidforums.net.

One user says another update is due out soon, namely 4.1. I don't know how much merit that statement holds, but I hope he's right!

The phone was originally intended to launch with 4.1, so I'm sure that update is in the works.

No comment from Verizon yet? With as widespread as the reports are, this issue can't be hard to confirm. I can't beleive that they would let the flagship phone sink like this with no comment.

Is anyone else getting lousy battery because of the weak signal? I get maybe 4 hours with medium usage (browsing / texting / few emails received ). Could it be a faulty battery? Some people online are saying that after 10 horus they are still at 60%

Why is that at all surprising? It seems to be Verizon's standard operating procedure.

It seems the problem was with my phone, I must have gotten a bad radio. Went Friday evening to get a new one and have had ZERO drops of data, and much better signal strength. My first speed test got 30MB down! Highest I've ever gotten in my area!

I've gotten my phone swapped out and my sim card changed....I doubt the chance that I've gotten two lemon phones but possible.

I purchased my galaxy nexus yesterday morning around 10am EST. Since then I have completely dropped both cell signal and 4G about every 15 mins to half hour. The drops last anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes. This has been horribly irritating.

signal -111 dB

I've had ZERO 4G reception in my area (supposedly a 4G area according to phone support and the VZW coverage map).  This was the case before and after the 4.0.2 update.

Does anyone know if there is anywhere that shows where the towers with 4G radios are located?  I want to make sure that the supposed 4G tower in my area is, in fact, 4G.

If you're having issues with getting a 4g signal, then you should switch your phone to be only on CDMA for now to save battery life. If you keep it on lte/CDMA, your phone will constantly be trying to get a lte signal and that will drain your battery. If you're getting bad lte reception due to the update in the first place, then switching to mainly CDMA for now shouldn't be that big of a difference speed wise, but it will help with battery for sure. Hopefully the new update will fix the signal issue.

Same problem here.  Verizon says that they don't know of any issue like this... How can that be?

I spoken with tech support on phone and in store and via email!

I'm almost to the point of returning this phone.
Tip, turn phone to 3g service instead of 4g will at least help with battery life.  However, I get very weak 3g connection also.
