How far a regular cell tower pick a call?

I was in the city of Moreno valley CA about 9 miles away from where the cell tower is location and the call showing Riverside CA is that normal for this tower to pick up my call or not?

Hello a3melaih. Let's make sure you're picking up the strongest signal. You mentioned a call that showed Riverside, CA. When did you see the city appear? If you received a call from an area code in the Riverside area and you saw the city appear as you received the call, this would be a feature your iPhone includes.
