Verizon's lack of communication is getting annoying. I've known what Sprint and Clear would be offering in my area for months. Both hardware and service plans. They've even had 3G/4G hardware available so I could sign immedaitely with 3G service and get 4G service as soon as it's available withou missing a beat.
Verizon, OTOH, has no useful information at all. No hardware info, no pricing, nothing. I have no idea what hardware will be available, what the hardware will cost, when it will be available, what the service will cost, whether data will be unlimited or metered. No hard numbers for speed or latency. The only thing I "know" is that VZW 4G will be available by the end of the year. Oh, and I'm getting 1 more bar of 3G signal at home so I guess that means they've been working on the local tower.
Come on, Verizon, where's your info?

Yeah, I signed up for that a while ago. All I've received is the "thank you" for signing up for the list and a "coverage announcement" that takes me to the 4G page on Verizon's site (the one in your reply) which tells me nothing about dates, prices, hardware, or levels of service. Surely you must realize that neither of those sources provides the information I'm seeking.

Verizon has a long history of protecting what they consider proprietary information. If they feel that unveiling information early affects their ability to compete, they keep that info close to the vest. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anybody.

Well, there's finally a little bit of new information.
"LTE will be supporting average data rates per user of 5-12 Mbps in the forward link, and 2-5 Mbps in the reverse link."
"The user plane latency achieved in LTE is approximately 1/2 (one-half) corresponding latency in existing 3G technologies."
I'd prefer actual numbers for latency but that's a start. Incoming speed a bit better than Sprint/Clear and outgoing speed much better. Now for some pricing and hardware...

Actually, the extra bar of signal is more than likely due to the leaves being off the trees. They tend to absorb and scatter the radio waves.........

Hasn't Verizon said it will be available at year end in certain markets? Is that not communication? I would think the reason you have gotten more info from Sprint is because Wimax is ready; LTE is not. Did Sprint give you info before it was ready? To me, annoyance is demanding something that is not available. I've read that modems would be available first; then phones by year end. There is plenty of general information on the internet. Just GOOGLE?

Are you trying to "call me out" or something? You're doing a bad job. Sprint has the same target rollout date in my area as Verizon. They've had their pricing and equipment out in the open for months. For the better part of a year, I've known exactly what Sprint and Clear would charge when their services launced and what equipment would be available. The only reason Verizon's still on my radar is the fact that I'm currently a customer and I've heard vague suggestions that their service might be faster. Now that I finally have hard numbers on the speed, I'm willing to wait a bit longer but it's absurd to take this long to provide hard data regarding the service.
Maybe you haven't noticed but the "end of the year" is right now. This is it. It's too late to do a split launch. The time for vague, general information was September/October. It's past time for specific information if they're really going to launch by the end of the year.

BTW, it's funny that the only person who's posted solid information about Verizon's service is me. Wait. That's not funny. It's sad.
