Poor to no Service beside tower

We have a Verizon tower less than a mile from our home which has a direct line of sight on our entire subdivision, but we fail to maintain connectivity. How can we have these issues looked at? My wife just swapped from AT&T to Verizon this month and is suddenly having the same issues that I've experienced for almost two years.
