Earlier this year I started getting a message that I am now Roaming and need to purchase a pin in order to make a call. It is happening in extended network areas. I have never had these problems.
My family members are part of the same plan and do not have the problem. A few weeks ago I was on a call with tier 2 at Verizon and the problem was not resolved. Today I did a factory reset and still have the same problem. When that happens I restart my phone and it fixes it for a few minutes and then then goes back to Extended Network and I cannot make or receive a call.

Follow up: I went to a Verizon store. The person I spoke to immediately knew what the problem was. My phone was a Samsung Galaxy S7. Verizon upgraded their towers in this area around January. That is when my problem started. Turned out that the technology of my S7 is too old to work well with the upgraded towers. I think the tower upgrade was for more G5 support. I read another posting from someone with the same problem. That person also had a S7 and started getting problems around same time.
I upgraded to a newer phone and no more problems.
