Just got the Samsung SCH-LC11 4G Hotspot today. I live in an area where 4g is not available. The 3G LED is green and I have no issue accessing the internet but the 4G led is not lit at all. The manual gives no reason for the led to be dark. Any ideas?

Which lights for 4G / EVDO indicates which mode the Hotspot is working in. Only 1 mode can be used at a time.
If you are in an area where there is no 4G then the modem is not operating in 4G mode so the EVDO light should be lit instead.
You can see the modem status by using the Admin Web GUI (http://192.168.1.1) under Configuration -> Diagnostics.
When you press the Modem button, it will display info about the modem values, 2 of which will be the Signal for EVDO and 4G.

I picked up one of these today and I have only used in 4g coverage area and my 3g light is not on. I believe only the light for the service you are receiving is lit and the color determines signal strength.
